Not a gamer, looking at after effects and premier pro. It’s down now to $478 on amazon and about $ 100 more than the i7 9700. I’m in the middle of building a beast in the aspect of the editing world. I do understand you get to a certain point where the limitation is just wasting money however I don’t want to spend $400 bucks on a processor and 6 moths down the road software and hardware compatibility start to limit work flow. Been there done that. Should tell you as well I haven’t built a pc in about 15 years and back then i had to buy premier and it was expensive.

I am building a pc and I found a used i9 - 9900k in great condition under warranty for 350euros or 385 usd, should I go for it or opt for the i7 8700k instead ? I am hardcore gamer and also have a youtube channel so there is some work and video editing, also plan to use 1440p in games and 4k in productivity

i love the idea f this 9900k vs 8700k but go THEM BOTH AGAINST THE 7700K my god you people are driving me mad, just do it and youll see what im talking about, you have gone from a 350 dollar chip to a 900 dollar chip for 15 % gain and no one fucking sees this .and that gain is in multiple threading not single core where the performance lays for gaming why the fuck am i the only one that knows this ? isnt that what you tech tubers is for ??? cmon man ffs . im getting so fkn fed up with all this nonsense im ready to by a fkn nintendo and burn my damn computer. the first thing youtube tech channels do is run cinebench, why the fuck would you do that for a chip and a channel meant for gamers ? its just i fkn give up with it . look man your new do the right thing for the people and viewers you are here for . you can build a high end z270 system for less than half of what i spent 3 years ago and its still the best . i give up.

Shintel Core i9 9900Ks CONS :

- flawed and very inefficient Hyper-Thrading that brings at best 10% of performance bump
- LAVA LIKE temperatures at stock clocks and especially when using Multicore Enhancement feature where all cores semi turbo up
- dying VRM-s because of lack of cooling (same as with i7 8700K)
- dying memory banks because of OCing (same as with i7 8700K)
- Meltdown and Spectre hardware baked security bugs inside their tranzistor logic because it's still based on the old Bloomfield 2009 / Sandy Bridge 2011 crappy architecture
- much much worse multi-core compared to Ryzen at the same clocks and the same number of cores/threads
- slightly worse IPC when comparing both cpu-s at the same clocks (for example both Shintel and Ryzen clocked 4, 2 GHz)
- never achievable TDP of 95 Watts (same with an i7 8700K) even at stock clocks while using 1-core classic turboing
- real power consumption at stock clocks using 1-core turboing on the cpu die alone is around 180-200 Watts (with an i7 8700K it's 150-160 Watts)
- real street shop price in EU is 600+ EUR
- limited upgradeability because of constant motherboard socket changing or artificially limiting from Shintel
- Meltdown and Spectre hardware bugs in their tranzistor logic will always require OS upgrades and BIOS upgrades for it to stay semi secure....hence IPC performance is constantly falling down with every upgrade

9900k has been shown to have numerous performance and thermal issues on z370. You shouldnt have used this board

Got the 9900k a few weeks ago for a ridiculous $420 at micro center. Even though I built my pc the end of last year with an 8700k I couldn’t pass this up. But my nephew has my 8700k now for his first pc build and is super happy. Basically the 9900k is an 8700k with 2 extra cores that will be good for me in the future.
