It's been a couple of years since I've done a bookshelf tour so I guess I'm a little overdue.
A few of you have asked for an updated tour so I hope that you enjoy.
As I say in the video, "A shelf is all I have." 🤭
And for fun, before you watch this video, take a guess at how many books you think I own.
Feel free to leave your answers in the comments and then let me know if you guessed correctly. 🙈

And as always...

Thanks so much for watching!

To my beautiful daughter! Thank you so much for continuing to inform and enlighten me and your viewers. I absolutely love your passion for books and being a minimalist. You know you always continue to uplift me and encourage me to just think about my choices. I love you for being your true authentic self and sharing with all of us. ❤

When you talked about not wanting to leave a lot of stuff behind when you die, I flashed back to moving all of my mom's stuff after she passed, and that experience has definitely made me more of a minimalist. I have been going through my physical TBR and just looking at things in my house in general and being honest about how much use we are getting out of things as opposed to how much those items are really just collecting dust. I have not whittled down my book collection to one shelf yet, but I am making a lot of progress.
Any way, thank you so much for this video, Nakia!

I love how you stick to your values and haven't felt the need to succumb to the over-consumption of Booktube. It makes me sad to see the endless cycle of massive hauls and massive unhauls. We just don't value the earth's resources or consider how our actions impact the environment. Thanks for sharing!

📚 I love seeing the other side, showing someone with minimal books. My mom has been an avid reader her whole life and never owns/ buys books. She uses the library and doesn’t see the point. I’m somewhere in the middle. 😊

Firstly, thank you for brevity and telling us a little about why you purchased each book. It’s endearing to hear what the book means to a reader. 😊

I’m similar in limiting the amount of books I buy. I stopped buying too many books about 5-6 years ago because I have so many that are unread. It’s embarrassing. I, too don’t want clutter and always think about packing and when I pass, how my collection will maybe become someone’s problem. 😂

Thankfully, it’s rare that I feel compelled to purchase any books because my library always has so much variety and several copies of the new releases. I don’t mind waiting on a library hold. It’s a shame that the FOMO monster has a majority of this world in a chokehold. I don’t need to read what everyone else is reading. 😅

It's a bit refreshing to see someone on booktube that only has one shelf of books, and promotes buying books secondhand and utilizing the library. Nothing against people that spend their money on new books though. I'm far from a minimalist myself. I love collecting my favorite movies and books to revisit, but I also try and purchase most of them secondhand.

📚📚 Growing up we never had a lot of money, so we got into the habit of holding onto every single thing we've ever owned, "just in case" we would need them again. This of course created loads of clutter. Now as an adult I am really trying to be more minimalist, but I still struggle with the mindset that it's bad to throw things away! Especially with books - I have a lot of books that I know I will never read, and when I look at them I don't get joy from them, but I struggle to donate them. I just love the idea of only owning books I truly love.

Love this Nakia, keeping things minimal is always the best option.
At the beginning of my reading journey, I just bought books like crazy, now I'm more thoughtful about my purchases.

I use my Libby app to decide most times if a book is worth a place on my shelf 💕
I have the secret of Hartwood Hall and I'm hoping to get to soon also 😊

I am seriously envious at how little of books you own. I just got Stillhouse Lake from the library because I've heard amazing things about it. Have you continued with the series?

I admire your minimalist lifestyle! I am kind of this way (or try to be) with other things - sometimes having a lot of stuff takes up too much space and it just feels like a burden.
When it comes to books, however, I fall into that category of enjoying the collecting aspect nearly as much as reading them. I hope to have my own personal home library one day. No self-restraint when it comes to books 😂.

Those illustrated Harry Potter editions are very cool! Don't have any but they are very desirable books to own indeed. I still need to read the series - I've been putting it off for too long lol.

I love how you said you really think about what you are bringing into your house. That will stick with me, I just love thinking about it that way! I am constantly packing up bags full of donations to bring to Goodwill and while I'm happy to donate things, I am definitely bringing too much "stuff" into my house that I really don't want or need. Thank you so much for this video!

I love the Coraline pop! My favorite movie and my favorite comfort book. I haven't seen many book tubers talk about Coraline! So cool to see!

Omg I love this video. I don't consider myself a minimalist but an intentionalist. I only own things that I actively use on a regular basis. I think people would be surprised how few books I have for someone who read so much

I love going to the library & the anticipation of my hold books being ready! If I buy book it's from the little shop my library has and they're 3-5$😊

I love your journal illustrations. Beautiful!

I met my husband when we worked in a bookstore together when I was in university. We are definitely not book minimalists, but I use the library more now and just buy the ones I love. My first edition set of Clive Barker’s Books of Blood with the wrap around art covers are my most prized possessions.

Loved to see your shelf. I have been downsizing my collection a lot in the last couple of years and I am trying to keep only the things that I truly loved or want for a private horror collection. This allows me more space for new books and unhauling, donating etc feels good. I can always donate books here and someone else might enjoy them.
I am constantly donating now so I keep less in general.

Love it! 🖤🖤🖤 I’m somewhere between minimalist and maximalist when it comes to my books. I don’t buy books often, but I do have a hard time parting with them when I do. I’m thankful for my Kindle, as keeping a tight budget proves easier with free and cheap ebooks. 😅
Your TBR basket is lovely! 📚
