I discovered this 1957 International Metro box van online and went to check it out. Since they're so cool and relatively hard to find in decent shape and are popular with the car crowd I had to drag it home! It had been sitting in the same spot for 18 years but hadn't been registered to drive on the road since 1975!!! If you're interested in owning this gem reach out to us at the email below. I have the title for it, it's in the same condition shown in the video. It could be all yours for only $5000! As always, thanks for watching!

Shortbread. Especially if it is lowered! Love the exposed wiper mechanism in these too.

OMS in Strategic Air Command (SAC) would have been Organizational Maintenance Squadron. That's the squadron for the crew chiefs assigned to and maintain the aircraft on the ramp. They do the preflights, postflights, refuelling, defueling, launch, recovery, and cleaning.

I can't believe the grill and emblems are still on that rig. I would love to wheel that around my neighborhood and give the HOA overlords an aneurysm. Never seen throttle linkage through a block before, that's wild.

The dormant workhorse intended to slumber its way to no return, but was awakened as its condition was no challenge for the seasoned, veteran, brilliant mechanic to overcome. Magnificent!

Since there are indications that thing was in Rapid City ( the rebuild tag on the engine) I’d say it was probably at Ellsworth AFB and the script on the side was probably something like the 28th Bomb Wing or a numbered Bomb Squadron of some sort. Cool rig either way.

"The starter will be easy to fix" It's not like we haven't heard THAT line before. LOL

I've been waiting for this episode for so long! My grandfather bought a 61 metro (a former fire rescue truck) over 20 year ago. The truck is still in my possession. I have very fond memories of he and I going to shows and the Jefferson swap meet in it.

Man, I can’t speak enough how often I think of all the things you say through out my day especially when I’m driving and bust out laughing. I find your videos remind me of when I was a young child watching shows like Captain kangaroo and local afternoon shows with a cool guy doing cool things while learning something. I am grateful for the hard work you do and of course Duff…

Restore it, as it's got some history that once gone can never be replaced.

Kinda nice that everything is right there in the cab. I remember my dad adjusting timing and the carburetor in his dodge tradesman while going down tje road.

Sweet metro! They truly were"international" using fuel systems and ignition components from various manufacturers and countries

She sounded awesome! Aerosmith had the same van as their first tour vehicle, which was found in return to them by American pickers. I bet if you send the video of that van to Steven Tyler he would probably be interested in buying it, He can well afford to 😂 anyway thanks for another great video and keep up the good work 👍☮️🇺🇲

28th OMS Ellsworth AFB - it is fun to watch you go through all the same steps I did when I was a working stiff (SFC 38th OMS, Calif National Guard)

The "tin grille" name was aimed at the 72 to 80 dodges but it's cool to hear it from the big time famous tubers. That bed/trailer was from a tin and looked pretty straight, getting harder to find all the time. Thanks for all the great content.

When that Metro was new, Eisenhower was President, the world respected and feared us. Those days are long gone! You and Duff keep up the good work 👍.

Great job bringing the van back to life. You even had it going at a decent clip just before 1.08:00. The Duff Cam is the cherry on the cake. :-)

I've loved those vans since I was a little kid, and I'm 60 now. The laundry service, milkman, bread truck, and the Charles Chips potato chip salesman all drove these through our neighborhood every week.
Thanks for saving it!
