Fun fact! This has roughly the same amount of frames as my Ruthlessness animatic. Most of them are of just Circe

The way Odysseus flops down beside Circle like ''GIRL YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE THE LAST 12 YEARS I'VE HAD''

I really like that Odysseus was finally rewarded for not being bloodthirsty with Cerce, my man is getting shat on at every turn for trying to be a good person, nice to see him being rewarded for that

THE WAY THAT THE NYMPHS WERE NERVOUS ABOUT ODY AND CIRCE JUST SMILED AND THEY CALMED DOWN??? SHE REALLY IS THEIR LOVING QUEEN HUH

Am I the only one who’s going hysterical over the way Circe slow blinks like a cat to the people around her to indicate trust?? She does it to her nymphs when her and Odysseus come out together and puts them at ease- and then she does it to Odysseus at the end?? Screaming. The details in this are immaculate

I like the detail of the nymphs immediately being frightened upon seeing Odysseus- really shows smth happened and Circe is just protecting them from it happening again. You can see how much they trust Circe by the way they relaxed when Circe gave the approval that he's okay. AAA small detail but really puts things into perspective

I love how Odysseus flops next to Circe and she looks at him like he's BONKERS. "Sir, this wasn't supposed to be a therapy session-" "I MISS MY

I just need a scene of Ody basically herding his crew like fucking chickens because i swear this is just a really long story of how Ody is babysitting 600 men and occasionally yelling at them like a stressed out parent who is just trying to focus on the road 😂😂😂

The animation is actually so good it’s also so funny/kinda cute how Circe is just sitting there as Odysseus is like ‘my wifeee wahhh’

You gotta love the contrast of Odysseus very human and un-god-like FIDELITY to his wife that makes Circe and later Hera help him.
For all the ways Odysseus tries and fails to put himself among gods trough war and trickery, his best qualities are the very human love and loyalty.

CAN WE TALK ABOUT 3:21 WHERE THOSE TWO MEN WHO WERE TURNED BACK FROM PIGS JUST TACKLE THAT OTHER GUY IN A BEAR HUG??? LIKE THAT'S WAS CUTE

Edit: also I did NOT notice Elpenor on the roof at the end, that's a lovely little detail

"I diEd, and nOboDy noTicED. I diEd, and nObodY cArEd."

"ELpEnor hoW did tHis haPpeN? HoW diD yoU mEet yoUr dEspAir??"

Odysseus' ultimate power: fidelity. Truly rare among the greek heroes.

0:37 Circe prowling like a lioness is so good. And I’m loving that Tiresias design.

I think so much about kindness vs ruthlessness in epic, I’ll never get over how this song and the verse about kindness is the last thing that happens before ody heads to the underworld and becomes the monster he needs to be to get home. Like. He wouldn’t have gotten to the underworld without kindness and vulnerability, and even leaves Circe with a new perspective on what it means to be kind. But without becoming ruthless, ody never would have made it home. You can’t be kind in war (even tho the war’s over technically this is still a war against the elements/the gods) because all that does is leave yourself open to a counterattack.
Yet, Odysseus inspires Circe to be kinder. Circe’s history with men killing her nymphs made her completely cold; Odysseus warmed her back up just enough. She’s not naive enough to let her nymphs be hurt, but open to the idea that some people do have good intentions. It’s almost like Odysseus knew what he had to do subconsciously, and wanted to impart Polite’s message of kindness with someone else before needing to destroy it from himself entirely.
Sorry for the wall of text I’ve been thinking abt this so much lol

3:17 In love with the physical yet very-much-platonic affection Circe raises Odysseus's chin with here. It's so immediately endearing and sells you on her not really being evil at all — just a kind person jaded after centuries of abuse.
