This short explained the whole controversy better than several foot-long articles I've read on this.

That movie is going to emotionally punch a looot of unsuspecting people.

It's ironic that Justin Baldoni, the director who also plays the abuser, understands the serious subject matter more than Blake Lively and Colleen Hoover, the victim's actor and the writer, respectively.

Justin Baldoni has actually spoken out a lot about issues like toxic masculinity. He has a TED talk about the subject and even has a podcast called Man Enough, that "challenges traditional masculinity norms, advocating vulnerability and emotional honesty. It encourages men to redefine strength, embrace empathy, and foster genuine connections in their personal and professional lives."

I definitely recommend looking into him more.

I honestly feel bad for Justin Baldoni, who's being excluded in group interviews, and he wanted to convey the message of domestic violence in relationships. Blake Lively seems more intent on playing up the fashion, which worked for Serena Van Der Woodsen, but not here.

I watched this movie without reading the synopsis, the book nor looking at the marketing for the movie (I've been busy lately, dont question it). Spontaneously saw this movie with a friend and honestly, my friend and I cried in the cinema, the way the movie was directed, how scenes played out and then pieced tg in the end to shock us all. The perspective of memories in absusive relationships and how complex "processing and feeling your feelings" really is. All of it. I will always commend Justin Baldoni for his stunning direction for the filming processes. I can tell he tried so hard and understood the gravity of the themes in the spotlight. It all hit home so hard. So disappointing that once again, there will always be big ppl in media who have the opportunity to shed light on such poignant topics but won't because it's simpler and probably funner to be trendy and light rather than open the floor for discourse that demands critical thinking and literacy. I would totally love to see Justin tackle more controversial themes again in movie directing as I can tell he can handle them with grace and intellect

The fact that Blake really said grab your florals the way she did! Like girl, get real. You know what this movie is about 😂

Yess 100% I work in a theater and my manager told me and my coworker “hey if someone comes in and actively buys tickets for the movie, maybe, kinda give them a heads up cause there isn’t any kind of warning before the movie”
We both understood and was like “yeah, no problem” I’m confused why it’s being marketed so light heartedly

I feel like Blake tried to have her Barbie moment, but failed ASTRONOMICALLY

It's the fact she's wearing Britney Spears' dress. The same Britney who has suffered from abuse for so many years of her life only to be labeled as "crazy" by the people around her.

And she's wearing it to promote a movie about domestic abuse romance. 🙁

colleen hoover is a piece of work - this is the lady that took no responsibility for her son to save her own skin and writes books centered around abuse - i don't even know what to say, i feel horrible for the poor people expecting this to be a sappy love story only to get this

I saw another video and in their comments there were girls explaining how reading the books this author wrote led them to stay in abusive relationships later on. Apparently the author also defended her son who was an alleged abuser as well.

The marketing for this movie being what it is and having absolutely no trigger warning for DV/DA victims should be criminal. They are going to cause so much harm, thank God Justin continues to speak out and educate people on the real message of the movie.

Hey gabi, im from india and there is a really sad case that happened a few days ago where a lady doctor was brutally assaulted, raped and murdered. The government is trying to sweep this under the rug. I and many other indians alike would really appreciate it if you would talk about it since you have a platform. Its a really horrific case. We are protesting. This haappened in kolkata in RG Kar medical college. The principal of the college blamed the victim and tried to cover it up as a suicide. The government, instead of removing him transferred him to a different college. Im trying to spread this as far as possible because it needs to be highlited. Else it will be forgotten.

I had no idea that this movie was even about domestic violence until I started seeing all of the people calling out the marketing. it made it seem like it was some fun, lighthearted exciting romcom, wtf!!!
I mean imagine being somebody who’s experienced DV who goes to see this movie not knowing what it’s about and then being fucked up by it afterwards. my heart goes out to those people😕

Didn't Justin Baldoni direct My Last Days went and interviewed people who were terminally ill because if it's the same guy he's an amzing director and person. Check out that series it's on here but get the tissues out. It features Zach Zobich who wrote a massive song called Clouds. Oh im tearing up just thinking about it.

I hate Colleen with my whole heart and soul. Her books can be so damaging to young girls and they are specifically marketed TOWARDS young girls. I hate that she gets a movie for one of her worst books. I feel really sorry that Justin is being excluded in the interviews. He’s really trying to show the horrible effects of toxic masculinity. It’s a pretty heavy movie, o haven’t watched I’ve read the book.

This whole situation makes me feel like I’m living that one Parks and Rec episode where Ron gets awarded feminist of the year or something over Leslie… but like, geez Blake, you’ve gotta be more empathetic (or at least smarter) than this right??

As someone who has experienced domestic abuse I immediately googled ‘is it ends with us about domestic violence?’ Just after watching the trailer without knowing anything about it bc my spidey sense tingled but many others wouldn’t
