The sphere must have some seriously impressive weaponry if they can defeat the defence systems of those harvester motherships. Anyone else also notice the defensive dome grid that can also be assembled over the planet while the platforms massacre the aliens?

I did enjoy that they could team up with this thing

Especially when it mentioned others from fallen worlds taking refuge while plotting to destroy the enemy

I wonder how many other alien refugees on the resistance planet there is and if they come in many shapes and sizes

That sphere is literally the Gravital race in All Tommorrows novel, exactly the same, removed their biological bodies and transfered it to a spherical machine that can float and manipulate things.

I've fan-named the sphere Spherea. I still wish after 5 years of this movie that there will b a 3rd, to show the refugee planet and all the Harvester's victims. To explore more of Independence Dayverse. They say it won't happen but i wish for it.

This would potentially open up a universal alliance with other species to fight a common enemy like in other sci-fi movies or shows plus games; if a sequel is made or when it will be released...

This was probably the only thing I liked about the sequel and probably the only reason why I’d want a third movie.

There’s something wrong about that scene.

Number one, judging the fact the Harvesters extract molten cores to refuel their ships and grow their technology, how does iron and nickel fuel their machinery? Why not use hydrogen from Gas Giants or stars to fuel their ships much easier than harvesting anything else? And why not mine asteroids or comets to gather resources for their species instead of destroying inhabitable worlds?

Number two, so the Sphere’s species is wiped out from extinction by a hostile race with less primitive technology than her’s, and yet there’s a refugee planet where alien civilizations from fallen worlds could build the same exact weapons she struggled to destroy the Harvester fleet.

This was a seriously clever plot device. It was just too bad the absence of non-returning characters, the meh performance of new characters, and poor taste in writing everything else is what hurt this sequel.

Knowing us humans we would learn the weapons and technology then become the new species invading planets. The sphere thing did say it wanted to put us in charge of everything and lead the other aliens from across the universe
