I play a ton of liar's dice when I'm out drinking.
The big difference for us at that point is that the winner of a round losses a die and it's all about not having any dice left at the end.
I think the reason why we do it that way here is that it makes it harder to win all the time, because your information becomes worse and worse.
At the end of the day, Liar's dice (like poker, black jack and other games with hidden values) the one with the most info, is the person in the best position.
As a result, losing in the version shown makes it easier to lose in any subsequent round

We have a very similar game in Germany called Bluff, where the 6 is replaced by a star, which basically counts like a "joker" so it counts as every number, which ads a really nice twist! Also you have a game board where, with a different red die, where you place what you say( like 4 of threes) and in-between those fields there are star field on which you can only set stars.

I hope everyone who read it was able to understand what I'm writing here. English is obviously not my first language. Also if you Google " bluff game " you can find several picture of the game and gameboard, which can hopefully help explain the concept of the stars. Also feel free to ask questions!

Jason is an interesting person in general I think. I seem to think that his irl personality is a little more restrained and it might be the editing but I like to think that when he is in a video he just lets loose and has fun. Either way TMR (the modern rogue) feels genuine and good tv for me.

"I wanna learn how to play poker with tarot cards"

There are several traditional tarot card games, most of them based on the Italian, French, or German rules. They usually use either the full 78 card deck that most people are familiar with, or 54 card decks that are similar, depending on the version. It's kind of a complicated game, but it's fun.

I haven't come across liar's dice in any video games, but dice poker has definitely been in some.

Edit. Apparently RDR has it, but i don't have a console, so never played. :D And Lego PotC has it too according to Wikipedia.

I have a version of this game (in UK) and it says that it comes from ancient Peru and is originally called Perudo!

A rule in the game is that you can only go up in die value as long as it’s higher in its multiplication! For example say if the bid is three 2’s (3x2=6) then you couldn’t go to one 5 because it’s too low but you could do say seven 1’s! This makes the game a little more flexiable and it means that you can get some really high bids of lower numbers and not always going to 6’s!

I've been playing liar's dice since I was 10, with my uncle's. First off you need different dice, like Ace through nine on the dice. It's played like poker and we use 1 cigar box, and pass that around trying to make the best poker hand. You can also pull out any combination but you have to beat the hand that was passed to you

If you doing some more tutorials - baccarat... for no other reason than James Bond plays it, and the rules seem hard

to be fair, there's not a lot Brian could have said that would have given him the win at that point.

also, as far as variations go, please try it with polyhedral dice. like this is a variation i'm pretty much making up on the spot, so it hasnt been playtested at all, but if you play it with a full set of polyhedral dice each. keep the wilds, cause otherwise you'll never get more than the amount of players of 20's. and i'm not sure if it'd be more fun to remove the smallest dice first, or the biggest one first (like start with the d4 vs the d20)

I commented on my face rules for Liar’s Dice in the other video, but especially if y’all are looking at Poker and Blackjack also then you really owe it to yourselves to look up Liar’s Poker. It’s Liars Dice with dollar bills (you use the serial number) and allows you to actually win money off your friends.

I feel like a couple of times that Annalise picked it up, but I'm surprised you all didn't mention jumping straight to 6s 🤔
I'm sure there's a strategy to it, but that could have been some quick dice lost 🙃

I saw the comments for the video. And some one said it's in Red Dead Redemption

Btw, there’s a liars dice app we can play with each other online. It’s the first one that comes up on the App Store, it’s an orange button with the word “Liar” in white across it. My gamer tag is imaliama if you wanna challenge me!
