R1Liz - S1000RR on Snowy Mountain Roads in Norway (aRRctic Adventure - Part 6)

The most fun day so far! Finally we’re seeing some snow, I’m sure the novelty will wear off soon but for now I’m thrilled to be back in my favourite scenery of peaceful snow covered mountains.
Mercifully the roads are mostly dry so I don’t need to worry too much about ice under my tyres. The temperature is starting to dip below 10 degrees and it’s still warm enough for me to be wearing mid-season base layers.

Today’s route included the 559 and the 48, followed by the E16 and E39, then the 64 briefly for the famous Atlantic Road. Trollstigen is closed , apparently because of tourists playing in landslides and getting hurt, but the roads leading up to it were good enough for me, and I’ll have to come back another time to experience the more popular routes.

Well done Liz👍 Enjoying your trip and views on the world around you. Not good going without food in those conditions. I like your positive attitude, anyway all the best and stay safe. Cheers

Champion. Love seeing some superbike all asphalt travel now that everything seems to be about adventure bikes. But I am still baffled you're actually going north still in october in norway. I'm in Sweden and stopped my motorbike commute allready for the season because of the cold... And here you are! Well done, best of luck. I hope the roads are not closed. They usually open in may due to snow and personally thought they would be closed in october.

@2:38 And funny thing is its called Våtedalen, which means wet valley unless it has some other strange meaning.
@7:05 Looks like Utvikfjellet on route 60, if so then 630m or so at most.

Well done in the rain on those bridges. At least there weren't strong winds accompanying you both over them.

Takes me back to my trip to the north coast last year in june. Although at that point I was on the coast road and I went into the arctic on a short ferry. That was cool because there is a globe the same as Nordkapp one on the coast at the arctic circle entry.

You're very good at the whole 'be a bit scared and do it anyway' thing. Are you still away or are you back now? Looking forward to seeing the next episode.

Crazy you doing this on S1000RR...
What temperatures you think are on the limit of being dangerous riding? Where I live it's now full autumn and temps in the morning are like 5-8 C and then much warmer around 16C... but whether shows drop in temps to like 1-2 C. It's my first season so I don't really know what to expect.

Regarding the altitude, I’m pretty sure your phones compass can tell you how high you are.

Apoligies if you answered this... why did you go back to norway rather than somewhere less cold
