Just read that Roger Whittaker passed away 5 days ago. Had to listen to this song as it reminds me of my nan listening to it when I was about 7. Music brings back such memories. RIP 🙏 Roger.

My grandad had all of his albums, I was 5 years old & I loved listening to him with my grandparents, I am 54 now & I still love to hear his wonderful voice.

His "Last Farewell" is this : one of the first he composed, and the first that made him a worldwide entertainer. He's followed me through fifty years. I've never covered any of his songs, because that man did it best himself. Now his voice has vanished, his songs won't be more, and we've got to do it ourselves : the so-called "easy listening".. Easy? That man was roaring modestly and silently. He made music available for simple minds. There is nothing more to say, than "thanks".
