Here we have the Official First Hands on video of the Google Pixel 8 Pro.
Google's upcoming Pixel 8 Pro has been featured in a new hands-on video, even though its release is still months away. The video, released by 91Mobiles and leaker Kuba, confirms the design seen in previous leaked renders. However, the most surprising revelation is the presence of an unexpected feature: a temperature sensor. The sensor is located as a small circle on the back of the phone, below the LED flash. Initially mistaken for a lidar sensor, this unique addition has sparked considerable interest among tech enthusiasts.

My guess is that it's a hybrid lidar/infrared thermometer system, they use a very similar process to get the two different readings, and I don't think the cost of an infrared thermometer alone would justify only putting it on the pro, so given the similarities in how the two techs work and Google's AR prowess, it's very likely that the 8 Pro is going to use some kind of hybrid lidar/ir therm.

People forget that its not just os updates, Android 5 rn runs most major apps on latest Play Store update. Basically it is 7 years OS + 9 years of app support going till 2039 possibly. Isn't that crazy?

For general public i dont see anyone enjoying this feature but as someone who checks temperatures sometimes when trouble shooting i can see this as a win if it gets to the point of a legit live thermal imagine video. That would be amazing for many applications.

That's a mediocre upgrade. How about bringing back a "Soli Sensor" from pixel 4 xl which scanned your face with 99.98% accuracy in day or complete darkness. Amazing face-unlock by far
