I get hate at work all the time for talking with my hands, I see it as being expressive/confident in what you are saying. I do not trust people that keep their arms close to themselves, it's like they are hiding something.

An old co worker of mine pointed out that I talk with my hands a lot. I remember I felt embarrassed and thought I looked stupid or something. The way he laughed when he brought it up. But I was a teenager then. Doesn’t bother me at all now. Especially after hearing this.

Ha ha am I the only one that thinks talking with hands isn’t annoying? I think it’s good if someone’s talking with their hands to you cause it shows they are comfortable I don’t know why you guys think it’s stupid to I think post people just do it naturally without realizing it and don’t mean to have you look at how they are moving their hands but to listen to what they are saying

People who stand perfectly still while talking freak me out. Hand movements are much more natural, at least for me.

After I noticed how many; people gesture while talking and thought it weird then I made the effort to not use my hands. Although I still have that 1 gesture that works even at a distance

Standing perfectly still with your hands by your side would look very robot like. But what I would call an overuse of hands is equally strange (to me). Just to get the feeling of how strange it is, find a video of someone who is using an abundance of hand gestures and try imitating them at approximately the same time they are gesturing. It gets bizarre. I know, I need to get out more.

I talk with my hands and it’s very natural for me and I don’t know how to stop it haha, but yeah I can’t just stand there and not talk with my hands . So everyone who says it’s “phony” or “stupid” to talk with your hands some can’t help it and we’re genuine with what we are trying to say !

I sometimes uses hands to communicate words like for stop would be the hand gesture from the rest sign. I would highlight it by getting it close to the person's body. I would also use it to convey location.
