I am from Russia and did study mechanical engineering (master) in Germany.
When I came here, I didn't speak a word of German. It was really hard, but I became fluent in German to a scientific level within 6 months.
Before university started, I had to pass a German language test similar to TOEFL in English.
It helps a lot if you try to integrate, so go out, get German friends, join sport clubs, read German books/news/magazines, watch German movies, etc.
Now 3 years after graduating I still live and work in Germany in the German higher end car industry, my girlfriend is German, I am fluent and well integrated, so I will most probably stay here forever now. ;)

I found my dream master's program in Germany, a country that I always wanted to live at least for a couple of years. After starting to learn german, just for the love of the language. I found it, is in english... still on A1 for german and trying to take courses in it will be futile. Applications start on September, wish me luck :D

Thank you for the information. My daughter wants to look at colleges in Germany over the summer and she wants to study music education. The DAAD reference is a great starting place, especially since she doesn't speak much German yet.

This video is really informative! I am now studying in a Deutsche Internationale Schule and I can speak a bit of German. I guess it is a great idea for me to study Mechanical Engineering in Germany (well you know... German Engineering xD)

I applied for a couple of Master's degree program in Germany and they are both provided in English! Now I am waiting to get the result. I would be super happy if I get accepted into both universities, of course, but but also be a bit scared since my German is still at the beginner's level. :(
Thanks for your videos, and I was wondering if you could make one on German pop culture or pop songs? I've been listening to a German Webradio for a while and the majority of the music they play are in English. I think it would help me lots if I get into some German songs.
Thanks again!! :)

Thank you for making this video. I'd been considering Germany for my master's (in the future) and felt unsure about whether I'll be proficient enough in German even by then for that. This helps a lot!

My husband and I are going to Munich, Füssen and Freiburg, as well as a few other places in Europe. We will be there for Oktoberfest! On our way back to the states we are going to make a decision on moving to Germany for school. Hope you're doing well, thank you for making these videos, they are a lot of help.

Amazing! So it is possible to study in Germany even if your German language skills leave much to be desired ^^ I still think it would be wonderful to study in Germany knowing the language well but this is really awesome to know :) Awesome video with great advice! Keep helping us Get Germanized ^^

I always wondered--What is it like for you to speak english? I know at this point you're fluent and it is probably easier after these years of speaking it, but still does it ever feel forced? Does it ever feel like every sentence is an effort? You are so good at the English but I still wonder how it is for you to speak it. As always thank you for the videos I watch everyday! :))

I was doing my research for studying in Germany ....this is wat I found-

Bachelors - full English courses - very rare
Max - an English German combo

Masters - Majority of the Business related courses ARE in English and u have to give ielts or toeffel
Many other subject courses are in English and few with complete German or English-German combo

PhD - Majority of the the courses are in English or arrangements can be made with professors if u manage to get admissions

But have to admit admissions are very competitive in Germany

Hey Man! Just started learning German a few days ago. I am currently in undergrad for Finance. I am seriously considering studying in Germany for a Master's degree.

What can you say about the selectivity of German universities for international students (specifically American students)?

Thank you. Keep going with your channel, it's really GUT!
