In the lyrics she says she is spellbound by a "Galdramaður", which means the person that does a "galdr", which is a word in Old Norse with two meanings, one is song and the other is incantation, spell. The verb "galana" means to sing or to cast a spell. So she was struck by the Singer/Sorcerer's spell/ song. And then proceeds to sing/ enchant us with her own galdr.

Spellbound I am, I am
The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me
Spellbound deep in my soul, in my soul
In my heart burns a sizzling fire, a sizzling fire

Spellbound I am, I am
The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me
Spellbound in my heart's root, my heart's root
My eyes gaze to where the wizard stood

You are welcome!

🎶 My husband was part Scottish, he loved Céltica music. He passed away over a year ago, but I was and still am in love with him. I am Hispanic, but I love this music, makes think of him listening and smiling. My beautiful Scottish husband. I miss you so much.... ❤

I'm icelandic and I always find it so fascinating to hear Faroese. Our languages are so similar in writing, but quite different pronunciation wise. I went through this song, singing the lyrics in Icelandic with a direct translation and it works flawlessly.

Icelandic version of lyrics:

Töfrabundinn er ég
Er ég
Galdramaður festi mig
Festi mig
Töfrabundinn djúpt í minni sál
Í minni sál
Í hjartanu logar brennandi bál
Brennandi bál

Töfrabundinn er ég
Er ég
Galdramaður festi mig
Festi mig
Töfrabundinn inn í hjartarót
Í hjartarót
Auga mitt festist hér er Galdramaðurinn stóð

As you can see, they're almost completely identical with some key differences. I think it's fair to say these are two of earth's most beautiful languages.

Tribal music of all indigenous cultures, no matter the culture, is of the most soul resonating communication there is and will ever be as we all carry ancestral memory and are connected in ways that have been forgotten and torn away from us. Remember ...

Right now, there are people all over the world who are just like you. They're either lonely, they're missing somebody, they're depressed, they're hurt, they're scarred from the past, they're having personal issues no one knows about, they have secrets you wouldn't believe. They wish, they dream and they hope. And right now, they are sitting here reading these words, and I'm writing this for you so you dont feel alone anymore. Always remember, don't be depressed about the past, don't worry about the future, and just focus on today. If today's not so great don't worry! Tomorrow's a new chance. If you are reading this, be sure to share this around to make others feel better. Have a nice day. :)

Aside from the pure beauty of this, and her superb talent, I’m struck by the similarity to Native American rhythms and vocal expressions. Probably not news to anyone else, but it seems the bridges between Celtic, Nordic & American Indigenous music, are extremely short. I’m grateful for having heard this. More please.

I can hear the mountains in her voice - their vastness, their wilderness, their sharp edges & curves, the mist & shadows, how deep the cliffs are…

Listening to this song is like seeing a painting or watching a montage of the mountains. She embodies nature in her voice and paints a picture of it with this song

My son, who is self-studying Old Norse, sent me here. Since his previous recommendation was for Maria (with Heilung), to took his word. Eivor is talented. May she live long and prosper greatly.

This girl is just amazing. I played it for a group of my friends, all battle-hardened soldiers, and ex-soldiers. They were all quiet for once, speechless. They all loved her voice.

She should go on with her art in Faroese. This linguistic gem of Europe makes her songs incomparably more powerful then English ever could.

"Spellbound" (lyrics in English)

Spellbound I am, I am

The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me

Spellbound deep in my soul, in my soul

In my heart burns a sizzling fire, a sizzling fire

Spellbound I am, I am

The wizard has enchanted me, enchanted me

Spellbound in my heart's root, my heart's root

My eyes gaze to where the wizard stood

I had a deeply moving experience listening to this song while I was driving. Swarms and swarms of birds were moving in waves over the road above my car making these undulating shapes that seemed to move with her voice. It gave me chills all over my body and brought tears to my eyes. I see those birds flying in waves above me whenever I hear this song now.
