How do you know if that particular rock contains the fossil? I came across some rocks on the beach with imprints like the one you see inside a fossil. I bet they looked promising. But I don’t know if I should inform someone or what do I do ? Check for more similar rocks? 🤔

Because there's such a wealth of fossils, do you think you're less careful? Or are they so common it's not so important?

This is a benign question from a layperson. I noticed that sometimes the tools are rougher and faster than necessary. Could you do this excavation more carefully and slowly to get better results?

Any palaeontologists here?
