In the high-pressure bass fishing world, Brett Hite has mastered various finesse techniques, from Neko rigging to even finesse ChatterBait fishing. Join Hite as he unveils his finesse ChatterBait tournament secrets for targeting hard-to-catch bass.

TACKLE USED (retail links)

As a ChatterBait fishing expert, Hite shares his extensive knowledge of retrieval techniques with finesse bladed jigs. He stresses the significance of keeping the bait in the strike zone while avoiding snags in brush or grass. The ChatterBait JackHammer StealthBlade was designed to deliver a more subtle and tighter vibration. It's an excellent option for challenging fisheries where you still want to cover water with a moving bait.

Gear selection plays an essential role in finesse ChatterBait fishing. Hite opts for a 7' 3" heavy power glass rod for the ideal power and parabolic action blend for accurate casts and effective hook sets. A reel with a 6.3:1 gear ratio provides the desired versatility in retrieval speed. He spools up with a 12- to 16-pound fluorocarbon for excellent castability, abrasion resistance, and low-visibility attributes.

Hite shares his go-to techniques for working the finesse ChatterBait, including strategic pauses and erratic retrieves to mimic hunting or deflection actions. He harnesses the bait's subtle vibration by casting near bushes and other cover to trigger strikes from tentative bass unwilling to commit to other moving baits.

Stealth blade has always been my favorite chatterbait. I feel very few people around me use it.

This is crappie catching machine for me especially April-May. I use a Kalins Lunker grub as a trailer. Sometimes I contrast colors and it works well.

I run the 1/8th micro and the new chatterbait flashback mini in 1/16 oz for smallest and trout. Hard to beat.

This is the exact question I've had on my mind. I think the 1/4 oz. Mini-Chatterbait is also a very innovative, especially for a northern angler like me. However, I've wanted some advice on the optimal conditions for the downsized lure.

Been using the Zodias 9:02 7’6” mh glass with a 6:1 Metanium mgl has been a pretty good combo imo.
I have a pile of jackhammers and zero stealth blades When I find some on sale I’ll buy a few and see what I come up with.

Got several of the stealth chatterbaits. Never got a bite on any of them. Just this a swim jig. BTW, I do like a chatterbait.

I have a tackle box full of them. I love the mini max pro and the original jackhammer. Shop around you can find them cheap. I use a Jordan Lee chatterbait rod, lews reel, 6:5:1, and I use black braid with a fluorocarbon leader or straight fluorocarbon line 14-20 lb line.

The chatterbait is an absolutely amazing lure. I throw it at night. Blue and black original chatterbait, 1/2 ounce with no trailer in about 12 feet of water and get one 3 pound largemouth after another. A steady retrieve is all you need in this case.

Hmmm, I'm wondering what a leftover scrap of a stickbait cut lengthwise will do skewered on chatter monkey will do. Maybe rigging it so the flat cut side is down?

That looks nothing like the Combat Stick's that are available to the public. So either Brett has his own special one that doesn't weigh 10 pounds lol or are they coming out with new ones?

I need to throw that bait more. I never think of it.

If you can’t feel the stealth blade or mini max in your rod, you are using too heavy of a rod
