It was interesting to be able to see how much you have grown in your videos. . .after seeing this, it is evident that now you do a lot more research into where you are and what we are seeing. It was great seeing this blast from the past.

As I'm approaching my golden years I really enjoy watching all of Josh's videos. He takes his fans to places I know I will never see in my lifetime. He is by far one of the BEST YouTubers! Thank you sir for bringing us along your journeys. And please don't ever stop being you!

I lived in So. Weymouth, less than a mile from the base. In the 1950s, my friends and I used to ride our bikes, past the guard station onto the base with no problems. Of course, we went places we weren't allowed (like too close to the jets warming up, before take off) and got chased by MPs many times.
In the early 60s, three of us were in a rock band and got to play weekends at the Enlisted Men's Club. We made some money, even though we sucked, because within an hour, most of the people were drunk - to them, we sounded OK. We kept a good dance beat, anyway. After a month, someone found out we were only 15 or 16 years old - that was the end of that gig.
All the old base property is being built into a huge development called "Southfield" - apartments, condos and their own stores. The movie production area was short-lived and folded quickly.
It was fun watching your video of our old playground. Too bad you missed the flight control tower - I'm pretty sure it was still there when you did the video. Fun stuff! Thanks.

At 3:28, it's an old adding machine. Before electronic calculators, there were analog, mechanical adding machines and subtraction machines. My dad used to repair them for a bank back in the 1970's until they started replacing everything with electronic calculators in the 80's. That's why my dad hated computers.

Wow this place looks so different compared to how it looks now! Love seeing how it looked a few years back. Thanks for sharing 🤙🏼

That "helmet" in the beginning is a helmet liner. A steel helmet would go over top of it. It's called an M1 steel helmet. It's probably the most iconic American helmet design in history. It was used from 1941-1985ish. However, this liner isn't just any liner, it's a WWII era liner which are highly collectable. I can tell it's WWII due to the color of the suspension on the inside. It's a very very good find. Also that suit is a MOPP (Mission Oriented Posture Protection) suit. It protects the wearer from gas and chemical attacks. Hence, why it's with the gas masks. The boots, if I'm correct, are either cold weather overshoes, or overshoes for the MOPP suit. All of this stuff is semi collectable and great items. Any other questions, just ask.

BRAC base closures. There are a lot of them. My old Air Force base was on the chopping block too. Haunted hangers and deuces(trucks). Those are MOPP gear. The boots go with the MOPP gear.

Being in the Navy myself(stationed in Pensacola, Fl.) this brings back old memories, even though most of older buildings are gone at your location. There was also an abandoned old hospital on the base located in Pensacola.... But, the history behind your videos, and editing skills, not to mention added drone shots adds to the mystery of your abandoned videos!! 🤗👍💕

I used to live in the town of Rockland and I would be able to walk to this place as a kid. Really brought me back seeing this video. Lots of memories of this place

I guess it was a training military base for the Marines, Navy, and Army officers. Where they trained officers to become pilots and how to repair those stuff. Also, it could be the hub from where they send soldiers from point A to B or some kind of storage facility for the military jets and helicopters. The Barak looks very decent and not just for an enlisted soldier where 50 people live in one room. Yes, the chemical equipment was left there because they probably stored the fuel for airplanes and helicopters and it is very toxic because you can burn your lungs very easily. I would be very careful to touch those things as long as you have proper protection and not just as a face mask. As long as it has been abandoned it doesn't mean that the government completely doesn't care about this place. I don't think you will find something classified items or paperwork there. Yes, this place is too old and it's expensive to repair this base. That's why they decided to abandon this military base. If you have enough money, you can make an offer to the state where this military base is located and buy it at a Government auction. You can build a great resort for people or create your own boot camp.
