iLOK CLOUD | IN DEPTH

In this video, I will go through every facet of iLok Cloud, and answer all of the questions people have about iLok Cloud. Such as; how to use iLok Cloud, what happens if you disconnect from the internet, how to deactivate an iLok Cloud session, how to re-connect to an iLok Cloud session, what licenses will work with iLok Cloud, can you have multiple iLok Cloud sessions, can you use iLok licenses in the cloud and on an iLok at the same time if you have multiple activations, and much more.

In this video we will be testing Pro Tools 2018 and Avid plugins with iLok Cloud. Avid was quick to support iLok Cloud, and it's a great new feature that lets you work with Pro Tools on any computer, even if you forget your iLok in the studio. iLok Cloud supports DAWs, plugins, and any other software that is authorized with PACE iLok. Of course, the license must be cloud enabled by the manufacturer.

The basics of iLok Cloud are simple. For Pro Tools, start Pro Tools and follow the on-screen prompts. Login to your iLok account, and ALL eligible cloud licenses will be activated for your cloud session. After you end your cloud session, all activations will be returned to your iLok account.

when i start a cloud session it shows 0 activation, i click and move protools activation to the cloud sessiomn it deactivates it and reactivates in my cloud session, and the ilok activations now dont have my pro tools, only the cloud session, if i close the cloud session without manually clicking and moving my protools back to the ilok, where does it go to? is it safe to close it before i move back my protools activation ?

Seems if you don't close the cloud session, then you shut down, then a fire burns your house down torching your computer to kingdom come, you'd be screwed? Or would you be able to go to another computer, close the cloud session that's open on the burnt computer, then open a new session? Or would you be out a license activation?

So just to confirm, if I wanted to buy 5 Pro Tools perpetual licenses for a studio to use on 5 editing machines, I wouldn't be able to use iLok cloud on 5 computers at once, even though I have 5 PT licenses in my iLok account? Meaning the only way to manage more than one Pro Tools licenses is by using the classic physical iLoks? Thanks for the informative video!

Great video. Based on what I see at the 21 minute mark it appears that iLok Cloud does not require the computer with the original cloud licenses to phone home to "remove" or "deauthorize" the computer: it just prompts when it attempts to access the license. I'm asking because I've had to do a clean install a few times on my system, and I'm trying to ensure that I can't end up in a situation where licenses are unrecoverable because it wasn't able to deactivate them *before* doing a migration to a new system. Correct?

iLok should be all cloud activation and even if off net. Should still work after unlocked at purchase. That’s how it should work but falls short

I currently have a 2014 Mac mini running Logic Pro and some of my plugins from Softube, Soundtoys and Slate Digital require iLok Licence Manager to work. Luckily the Soundtoys and Softube plugins are activated on my Mac Mini and the Slate Digital Fresh Air plugin is activated via iLok Cloud meaning I do not require any physical dongles.

I’m planning on purchasing a new M1 powered Mac Mini fairly soon (once all third party plugin companies update their software). I was then going to wipe my current Mac Mini and give it to my brother.

Would I be right in assuming that I’d need to deactivate the plugins from my current computer before restoring it so that I don’t lose any Activations? For example Soundtoys and Softube give me 2 Activations and Slate Digital gives me only 1.

If one were expected to deactivate Licenses in advance then what happens to those users who may have had their computer stolen or maybe become faulty and needed to be replaced. Would they just be out of luck or would they need to contact iLok or the Plugin company to get back that lost license?

I know its a bit of a basic question but I have always wondered about that in regards to iLok.

Have you ever had an "ilok cloud error"? "cannot authorize your software with ilok cloud. It wont let me close my cloud session. Im not sure what happened. I would LOVE your assistance.
