This is excellent!! I’ve went to a physical therapist 4 times and the stretching exercises are exactly what she is training me, and it’s working. Just takes a little time and effort.

For those of us who work on our feet or commute in the city, I would say to avoid inserts that he shows, in the video, they don’t really work for me. The heel-only inserts are okay, but I find they are too low and don’t take impact of concrete well. Remember, impact resistance plays a role, but good foot angle will allow the area to recouperate even if you can’t take time off your feet. I go with a no-back mule/ sandal with a good rubber lift in the heel, or a chunky heel boot at least 2 cm high, loose fitting Chelsea boot or military boot with a heel, with laces that tie at the calf. If it has zipper to get in it, that’s even better, as it won’t inflame the hagland bump while putting them on. Then you can STILL WORK, do stretching exercises and ice, hot baths etc and over time get it down to a absolute minimum without resorting to debilitating surgery. Also, cut out foods that cause inflammation like processed bread, sugar and alcohol

I think I have Haglunds but there has never been any pain except for how I initially may have gotten it. I fell in the snow and heard a pop. My ankle was swollen big time and it hurt to walk but I couldn't afford to miss work so I worked. That was almost 20 years ago. I just noticed this year that I have a weird looking bump on the back of my heel but no pain.

I have seen more and more doctors doing the minimally invasive surgery without detaching the achilles with way less recovery time. I may need that surgery soon. Stretching seems to help me a little for now.

I had one on right heel that was removed with prolotherapy. But I then had one on left that could not get relief with therapy, tried an injection but found that actually my Achilles tendon was over half way torn. And had to have tendon strengthened with another tendon.

I need that stretcher. My podiatrists don't look at my feet. They read the report from the radiologist and send me off with 800mg motrin. I've since started wearing hiking boots every day and it helps.

So medical technology this far into 2024 has not advanced enough to be able to do a bone spur surgery, without having to detach the Achilles tendon? Therefore, based on your many excellent Achilles related exercises, by strengthening the Achilles through stretching, one can literally avoid surgery?
You are the BEST and HONEST doctor on YouTube.
Thanks and God bless you.

I'm 65 years old and am dealing with a spur in the back of my heel with unbelievable pain. I have been to three doctors who tell me that I need to wear a full boot to let the foot heal but that does nothing, just a waste of time and money. Other primary care doctors tell me to elevate ice and over the counter pain pills that will do more harm to me in the long run, no pun intended. I have corrective foot wear as well as open back corrective footwear but the pain is always there and keeps me awake half the night. I have tried just about everything for a little pain relief but can't seem to find anyone or anything that helps. It looks just like the X-ray you are showing. Thanks for all of your videos and concern.

I had a root tear in my inside lateral meniscus six months ago and I am still waiting to have it repaired. Three months ago I started developing a Hagland’s bump on the back of my right heel. It’s so bad now I can barely walk. I finally have a podiatrist appointment and I am wondering if I will find out that it is related to my knee problem.

Based on this video, I concluded that surgery is the only way to get rid of the deformity. Everything else just helps you live with it. Is my assessment correct?

I actually have bones growing/ shooting upward to my Achilles tendon. I have pictures of my xrays on both feet. I don't know if you're interested to see it.
