Megaton Kick 6 Ranking (IN MY OPINION)

1. Total Destruction - Laur

Laur never disappoints when it comes to his music, but I did not understand why he had to follow the “let’s make our songs rhythm game length” route to boot like the others that had songs under 3 minutes. There is also no structure to this song, just a kick showcase which doesn’t make any sense. But damn is this song so good on the ears whether through headphones or in the car. This premium needs an extension with HARDER kicks included though.

2. OVERPOWER - Yuta Imai

Straight to the point and I love it! Now I love me a good visualizer with good waveforms, so the fact that they didn’t show the final kick through waveform upsets me a bit. But I do love Yuta Imai for not making their track under 3 minutes and giving us an extended mix! Salutes!

3. Imaginary Legacy - Kobaryo

If Kobaryo utilized their fake drops and melodic drop in their track to make it more than 3 minutes then this would be top spot! But alas, here we are. I really like the kick representation that Kobaryo used in this track but without any speedcore makes me wonder if this is Kobaryo? Maybe he could’ve made a melodic drop with speedcore? Anyways, the wave form at 2:12 is so smooth which is pretty good!

4. Hercules - Gram

Turning onto the Greek gods now are we Gram? I love how this song is the first song to utilize Pickaxe kicks in their track, it’s amazing! The kicks are a bit under the water but over 3 minutes so that’s fun! I really do wish that they included a melodic drop in this song which would be gold and strong, like Hercules himself! But without the gold…

5. Maniac - Massive New Krew

When I saw the duration I was disappointed at the fact at this was and is the 2nd shortest song in the entire Megaton Kick series. But when I heard the kicks, I was pretty blown away! Shame that you don’t get to enjoy the kicks for longer.

6. Got It Bad - USAO

USAO. I would’ve sworn that he of all people would make longer songs, but I guess he got caught up in the fake drops fiasco like some of the other artists in this line up. The kick representation is alright, though I was expecting a bit more though coming from him.

7. Fake Canon - RoughSketch

Funny song. I laughed at first listen. If this song played around with just the BCM rumble kick instead of the gabber kick then this track would’ve ranked higher than what it is at right now. Duration is alright. Best seller is the cutoffs of the gunshots.

8. Push The Reactor - Dustvoxx

The only 4 minute song in the line-up! Dustvoxx knows what’s up! (More like 3:56 but close enough)
I loved Dustvoxx’s return when the snippet arrived and the song was. Good… to say the least. Usual Dustvoxx. I do want to see kick structures similar to Music Machine Pt. 2 moving forward.

9. Rave Devolution - t+pazolite

I don’t like how the first kick was robbed of the bass thing going on in the first part, but I guess I’m not in charge on how the song structure has to go. This song was okay, the kicks were nothing special except the two kicks in the second drop. But those two never really got to see the light of day.

10. Lost in Desire - RiraN

I would argue that RiraN’s structure is the same as his Megaton Kick 5’s submission which is great! The only reason that this song is so down low on the list is the fact that I lose all hype at the climax of the song due to the laser kick that he used. I’m sorry, but no matter how hard I try, I cannot fathom to like and listen to that part, and lose all emotion. Which sucks as Iike the kick right after that. I can’t even listen to it the same way as the rest of the song. Come on RiraN! >:(

11. Megaton Kids - DJ Myosuke

Usual DJ Myosuke. The good thing is that I like this more than I like his Megaton Kick 4 and 5 song. And that’s it. Kick representation is good, but I don’t like the transitions between sections, as they are confusing to listen to. They also appear at random times during the 1st section of the track. At least I can listen to this instead of his 4 and 5 works…

This is almost surely my new favourite Megaton Kick!!! MK3 was favourite, and it holds a special place in my heart as it was the first MK album I followed the previews of, but every track in MK6 bangs HARD as does the cover!! So excited to listen to this when it comes out

I love the selection of kicks that were present in this line up, they really stepped up their game from last year! But I VERY much miss the times where all of the songs were between 3 - 5 minutes which really makes the listening experience more confusing and die down. I’ve heard that the shorter songs (2 - 3 minutes) will get extended versions that aren’t extended mixes and I’m crossing my fingers hoping that will happen. But until then if they layed off the fake drops a bit more then I would’ve enjoyed more then I do now.
