The story is, Roger had found out his brother “was” stealing & mishandling the families business money & was involved in drugs, ( which Roger did not do or tolerate) ( it was said that Larry was messing with drugs which was the reason for him stealing from the families business ) his mother had told Roger his brother needed to be fired, that was the conversation that was being had when Larry shot Roger, Larry was being removed from having access to any of the financial dealings, it was their mothers idea to have a double funeral for both of them & for them to be buried side by side! My x-husband was a pall bearer for Rogers casket, they grew up together, toured together, & whenever Roger was in L.A. I always attended his shows & he would have dinner at our home. ( his request was meatloaf & mashed potatoes )

Don't bury me with my killer I don't care if we're related or not. RIP Roger.

I met Roger Troutman in 1997 in New Orleans. I saw him perform in a club the night before I had to fly back to Baltimore - he was on the same flight and sat next to me. He was very cool and was reading books on natural healing and herbs; we talked the entire flight - well; I listened. Then he gave me a signed photograph of him that I still have. Brother was extremely humble and cool.

This is right up there with the Marvin Gaye tragedy....I remember this day. In L.A, you can't go to a car show and NOT hear his music. Thank you Lamont, better than my local news.

I loved when Roger collabed with Tupac for "California Love". Such a senseless killing especially at the hands of your own brother. May he rest in peace.

I was truck driver at the time. I was making a delivery in Dayton, oh that night close to where the murder happened. I remember seeing police all over the place, it was early morning after midnight. Later that day I had made it home to Pittsburgh, pa and heard it on the radio that Roger Troutman had been killed by his brother.. I couldn't believe I was that close to where he was killed at the time of his murder. I had the pleasure of meeting him at Hickam AFB in Hawaii in 1994. He had a concert at the NCO club there and maybe 20-30 people showed up. Roger came out on the stage and looked around and only seen a few people there and said "what the hell?" Then he told us to all grab our chairs and come closer to the stage. He jammed for us and we all felt it was our own personal concert because he came to each lady and sang to them and he gave the men a hi five. I loved him for that moment in time. May he RWG

Roger Troutman's murder always bothered me. To be killed by "family" is beyond sad. Its always the ones close to you you gotta watch.

I cant imagine his mothers and fathers pain loosing two sons at once...very heartbreaking but his music lives on, he left a legacy behind.

Wow, I didn't even know that he was dead. I especially didn't know that his own brother murdered him. What a tragedy😱!!!

His son, Roger Lynch, aka Roger Troutman Jr., was born in St. Paul, MN and died here in 2003. Also, Roger Sr’s granddaughter (Lynch’s daughter) was a musician like her dad and grandfather and died at 21 of an overdose in Minneapolis in 2020. A lot of tragedy has happened in that family, unfortunately.

Roger Children Don't Talk To, Their Cousins Larry Kids. Because They Didn't Want Their Uncle Buried Next To Their Dad.. I Totally Agree With Roger Kids. His Brother That Killed Him, And He Was Buried Next To Roger, That's Ridiculous. I Will Forever Listen To Roger Music. Computer Love, I Wanna Be Your Man, Do It Roger, Do Wa Ditty, And Etc. Rest In Paradise "Roger Troutman, " A True Music Legend. 🕊🌈🕊❤❤❤

I didn't even know they died, I'm so late. I love their songs though. Such a sad story, and what's even worst is having your own blood relative that murdered you buried right next to you.

Roger was such a musical genius he could make music for any decade and generation when others fail or are just unwanted his style just stuck around. I'm an 80 and 90s kid and he was on at every school dance every year. So sad his life was taken away and by his brother of all people.
Nice job Lamont, you always give us fantastic videos.

I grew up younger than Roger. I didn’t know him personally, but l remember his father, grandfather, and relatives. In spite of this tragedy, you couldn’t ask for a nicer, hardworking, family. They didn’t deserve this. They are good people. Hamilton, Ohio should do more, to bring attention to Roger’s contribution to popular music, and culture. Thank you, Lamont for this tribute.

To be killed by your own brother then be buried next to him, that’s rough as hell. I would have put the brother on the other side of the graveyard or in another graveyard all together. Fly high Roger🕊

Imagine being Rodgers kids and in order to visit their dad, they’d have to visit his killer too. That’s like the coldest shit ever..like if you’d want to lay 💐 down. You gotta place it on one side of the grave but you’re still putting 💐 where his killer is buried also. Its petty but damn..you can’t really acknowledge one without the other
