Very helpful and clear, thanks. One thing that I wonder about is whether growth is even NECESSARY for economic development though. If development relates so closely to well being why should it not be possible for a society with an appropriate GDP to have a fairly equal income distribution and a contented population without economic growth? I realize this is not the way way that the world works in reality but do any economists see it as theoretically possible?
