While Cleaning Her Husband's Grave, She Noticed a Strange Hole. What Happened Next is STARTLING!

Once a month Mary would make a point of going up country to visit her husband’s grave and clean it up a little. Some seasons were worse than others, though thanks to the warm summer they were experiencing there wasn’t much for her to do. She went to grooming the grass and weeds around his tomb stone when suddenly she noticed a hole in the ground right by his grave! Concerned as to what it might be she consults her family on possibly digging it up. Despite their protests against the idea she decides to go ahead and excavate a little. What she discovers is simply startling!

I feel very badly for Mary, that was TERRIBLE the cemetery did that to Mary, and then turn around and do such a terrible thing to her husband so DISRESPECTFUL.
I am so happy that Mary was able to find out what exactly happened and she got some consolation for it.
Such an awful thing happening to someone at a time like that.

Clarification: Depending on the locality, and geological conditions such as high groundwater level, the depth of graves varies greatly. We have always heard six feet under - most of us thinking that the top of the casket would be 6 ft below the ground. NOT so !
In my location which is South Louisiana there are a lot of above ground crypts/tombs. When a grave is being excavated, the bottom of the grave is usually 6 feet deep, therefore the top of the coffin casket may be as little as 3 to 4 ft below the surface of the ground. 😶

Louisiana law requires all remains, including the casket, to be placed inside of a sealed concrete tomb buried in the ground to prevent rodents from ever having access. The concrete box has to have a minimum of 20 inches of dirt on top. The main purpose of the burial chamber is to prevent a cave in when the casket collapses decades later.

When my family visited a small cemetery in New York in 1975 when I was 13 to find a family ancestor of the area, I found a rodent size hole near the headstone of someone who died in 1922. At the hole was what I thought was an old fancy dresser handle and I picked it up to look at it. It was made of metal and the handle was rotting wood. I left it where I found it, realizing later after we left it was a likely a coffin handle. A rodent dug to the coffin and pulled up the handle, most likely into the coffin as well.

My thoughts on this case I feel she done the right thing but I also feel she was disturbing her grave I live here in Utah and something like that kinda happened like that but it had to do with my uncle the funeral home for got to make sure the coffin was locked I had recurring dreams about the coffin before I told this to my mom finely my aunt took the next step and went to the funeral home wear they had the funeral the Undertakers dug up the grave and sure enough my dreams were right so we had to call a bishop and give the resting spot a blessing before lowering it back down but yes they took care of the problem and now my uncle can safely RIP

THE SON ACTED LIKE A HORSES BACKSIDE AND VERY DISRESPECTFUL TO HIM MOTHER. HE SHOULD HAVE GOT OFF HIS BACKSIDE AND WENT TO DETERMINE WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO HIS FATHERS GRAVE. AS FOR THE LOUSY TREATMENT BY THE CEMETERY THEY DESERVED TO BE SUED. OUR LOVED ONES DESERVE THE BEST.
