Continental TKC 70 Rocks Tires Review

For 60% on-road, 40% off-road use, Continental presents the TKC 70 Rocks tires. Their rugged construction and all-weather grip make them a serious contender for ADV and even dual sport riders. Additional features include quiet high-speed stability, aggressive siping with self-cleaning grooves, and eligibility for Continental's free 3 year roadside warranty.

Coming off 15+ sets of TKC80's I was looking for something that would last a little longer. Do yourself a favor - just go buy some Dunlop TrailMax Missions. Almost as good off-road, great on the slab, and on the curvy pavement, and I would have replaced 3 sets of 80's in the time I've been running the TrailMax.

Thank you. Mechanical and Chemical grip is a great terminology. Aquariums have mechanical, chemical and biological filtration and you have linked the 2 in my brain.

Interesting - I have 70's now and never loved the central contact strip on the rear. Off-road you lose some hook-up and on-road I always felt a little uneasy in the wet - it's not a slick but the central 1" is (and where is your braking done)?! This new one will be a good replacement for the rear (which often gets replaced twice as much). Assuming it's pre-matched to a 70 upfront (which it must be), a good option. I think I'll have one when the time is right - will be a good comparison. The bad, noise - the good, off-road hook and (maybe) wet performance.

Surprised to see Conti update the rear and not that terrible front. When I ran a set the front started to scallop almost immediately. It vibrated like crazy and wobbled every time you took your hands off the bars. Tires had fantastic wet and dry grip and even with the solid band on the rear wasn’t too bad on gravel. Just a shame the front wore so poorly.

TKC70 Rocks on the rear and which one would be the best match for the front?
Nice review.

I’ve got one of these on the back of my Scrambler 1200 XE right now, along with a TKC80 front. I don’t like it much. It feels okay now with about 1500 miles on it, but for the first 1000 miles or so it constantly felt like it wanted to slide sideways, on both dirt and pavement. A Shinko 705 feels a lot more planted, even on gravel. I won’t buy another; I should have just bought a TKC80 rear.

Good all around tire for on and off road. But I got less than w 2500 miles out of them. They wear QUICKLY!

Haven’t seen a rear-only tyre model before? Haven’t you heard of the Mitas E07+?

I'm more like Continental TKC 70 style but what do you think between this and Dunlop trailmax Mission ?

Maybe a combo Tkc 70 rocks in the rear and Tkc 80 in the front, I ride the big sherman tank the Yamaha S10 and I use the Karoo street rear and Karoo 3 up front, and if you can live with a bit of noise on the road its awesome off road

I have an interstate that I’d like to put something akin to a rain tire with good life. What’s out there

The idea seems good, but what about a TKC70 ROCKS for front wheel? if you want to use the 70 Rocks, you have to put a 70 standard or a 80, but both ara in extrems and one of the most important problem you can have is lose traccion from front wheel, so we are obligated to use a 80 in the front.

Spurg, you don’t seem too enthusiastic about the Rocks. What gives? I know that just by the tone of your video, I’m not interested. Continental makes great tires, but you seem to be a little reserved on this one.

Hi bought a ktm duke 200 I'm a new rider. I don't want enduro not for me. Adventure bike are too much for my budget. But I lived in Australia lots of great roads and offroad as well. So can I change my tyres that can do onroad and offroad? I saw some review from India. but i don't trust those guy. hahaha! sorry.
