In this video, archaeologists have discovered what may be the oldest evidence of human habitation in North America. The discovery was made at a beach in St. Petersburg, Florida and may date back as far as 14,500 years ago.

This is a exciting discovery and could change the way we think about human history in North America. For years, experts have believed that human habitation in North America only started around 12,000 years ago. However, this discovery suggests that humans have been in North America for much longer than we originally thought.

I found a whelk midden 500 meters from my house in 6 mile creek. It's in the Sanford Florida Museum. P.S. 7500 -9500 years old.

Man was in North America a lot longer than previously thought.

If sea level was lower every island in the Caribbean would be much bigger as well as Florida. It would be really easy to get around.

If a person were to climb down the sides of canals in Vero Beach florida during the dry season, and dig into the sides of the canals they will likely find fossils. Some museum pieces from Vero were found this way by a homeless guy on a bike. A friend and I did the same after hearing about it, we were not disappointed from our short search.

It is amazing how science is never settled. Continued gathering of evidence relegates former "knowns" into old theories.

The Paleocene saw ice as far south as 35 degrees latitude north and south. Is it not possible that a population hunting seal might find themselves near Newport News Virginia where they left spear points made in France about 30, 000 BCE?

I am intrigued by the under-appreciated finds from Afton Springs, near Afton, OK which included mastodon or mammoth teeth, points, knives, and other apparent offerings to the spring and pre-date the Osage that later lived there. The spring dried up when lead and zinc mining apparently dewatered a large area.

Two different S. E. Idaho sites have 15, 000 year old mammoth hunting proof well established.
And I've seen another lava bubble cave N. And W. Of the one by Idaho Falls that is unexplored and will have more proof of 15, 000 year old humans in Idaho

Fascinating... I always felt there was more to the story than what I was taught as a child in School... but I don't see it as they lied to me, it's more that I've always thought it was just a best guess✌️💯

Has any contact been made with Jacksonville University in Jacksonville Florida concerning large bones? Several years ago when the University was dredging the St.Johns River to expand their scull house for the crew program. I was able to bring my grandson to the site. We could pick up many types of ancient bones of many different animals laying on the rivers beach area. They were so easy to just pick them off the beach . My grandson was thrilled. I’m sure they must have found quite a collection during the dredging for the school. It was a great experience since it was when Jurassic Park had just come out.

About Florida: I grew up near Vero Beach and remember when it was mostly unoccupied land. We have lost so much history to condo growth.
But currently in Polk County: We have the Peace River and it seems like fossil hunters rarely come away empty handed. Just query videos here as quite a few fossil hunters regularly post their videos here. I’ve heard that other parts of our state get posts from fossil hunters as well.
