I appreciate all you have done with the training videos for basecamp. I will tell you first hand that the XT2 does not play well with basecamp as it does not allow the differentiation of shaping and via points unless you transfer the file via SD card. Even with importing the route to the XT2 via the SD card has problems as the XT2 wants to recalculate the route based on ITS settings and those settings are almost impossible to mirror on basecamp. The XT2 worked so poorly I was forced to return it after it destroyed my trip on two occasions. Even with the routing set to "do not recalculate" all it will do is complain about "make a u-turn" until it locks up. Thank god there was a track function or my trip would have been lost.. Even after getting back on the correct route, the unit will not restart turn by turn navigation because its still mad you did not allow it to navigate the closed road you had to go around..

Thanks for this video. I just purchased the Zumo XT2, joined the Zumo User Forum and am trying to make it work with gpx files from Roadtrippers on pc which I really like. I have no idea why I was even surprised that things don't work perfectly if at all since I am not new to gps and route planning. At least I can take my time and figure everything out before my next road trip.

Just purchased the XT2, moving on from the older 660 for a number of reasons. Looking forward to your education, knowledge and experience with the Garmin GPS series to make my motorcycling a more enjoyable adventure. You are doing a great, Thanks, appreciate your efforts.

Hello,
Thank you for your videos
Personally, I am not at all satisfied with my XT2 compared to my old ZUMO 660.
Garmin software is unnecessarily complex to use and inconsistent (Explore, Tread, ...). None of them allows you to create a route on a PC and send it easily to the GPS. The positive points of the device are its large screen and its visibility in all circumstances as you pointed out.
On the other hand, in terms of guidance, regardless of the application used to create your route in .gpx format, when imported into the XT2, it will modify your route and sometimes in a significant way even if it will always lead you to your destination.
The second negative point is, when he has to recalculate a road, for example because of roadworks and a closed road, he will for a very long time, try to put you back where you left the planned route instead of creating an alternative route for you. In these recalculation cases, it also deletes the shaping points that you had placed for the rest of your route. The best thing to do is to stop the guidance and then resume it.
I regret having broken my piggy bank for this device by succumbing to Garmin's marketing.

Hello,

I recently acquired the XT2 and have a lot of experience with Basecamp and other Garmin GPS devices.
Explore and Trent are fine for weekend travelers, quick planning directly on the mobile and go. But for long trips, these apps are really primitive.

When I bring a GPX file to my XT2, it's a pain in the ass. Whether I export from Basecamp and bring it to Explore or Trend, or if I try to send it directly from Basecamp to the XT2 - it doesn't matter, actually, it doesn't matter where I send a route from basecamp or other apps - the XT2 always displays the route traced more or less as it should but with small straight lines, close to the road but not on it, and it doesn't navigate on that route. If I try to edit the route on the XT2, changing the calculation mode from fastest path to adventure, then it recalculates the route correctly, but it uses an adventure mode logic, it chooses other roads that I don't want in my route.

If I go back to the fastest path, it goes back to the same problem as before. I'm already missing my old GPS.

Do you have any tips for this?
