Tel Aviv Food Tour - BEST Sabich, Hummus, and Lamb Pita - Middle Eastern Israeli Food!

Our first stop was in Jaffa, the old area of Tel Aviv, just south of the main city. It’s an ancient Biblical city, and I was excited to visit. Located in Jaffa is Abu Hassan, one of the most legendary and standards of hummus in Tel Aviv.

Abu Hassan - Located in a peaceful area of Jaffa, this restaurant is always packed and busy full of people hungry for hummus, ful, and musabaha. it’s truly a legendary place and the hummus was of the sticky and smooth variety. I think my favorite thing was the musabaha, like hummus, but with whole chickpeas. They also offer a mix of hummus, ful, and musabaha all in a single bowl which is excellent.
Total price - 72 ILS ($20.95)

Sabich Tchernichovsky - An Iraqi Jewish food in Israel, sabich is a pita filled with eggplant and hard boiled eggs, and a selection of salad and condiments. David says that there’s no doubt Sabich Tchernichovsky makes the best sabich in Israel, and I was very impressed. He assembled the pita so slowly and perfectly, adding layer upon layer of eggplant, egg, and salad. It was truly one of the best vegetarian (but with egg) sandwiches I’ve ever had.
Price - 21 ILS ($5.87)

Falafel Johnny Benin - Next to Sabich Tchernichovsky, is Falafel Johnny Benin, a legendary Tel Aviv falafel hole in the wall restaurant. I ordered a half of a falafel sandwich, with salad and tahini. It was delicious, and freshly cooked.
Half falafel pita - 9 ILS ($2.51)

Carmel Market - Carmel Market is one of the most well known of all open air flea markets in Tel Aviv. You’ll find everything there, including a nice food section.

HaBasta Restaurant - Located on a side street of Carmel Market, is HaBasta, a gourmet market fresh restaurant. They served us some very fresh and interesting dishes. The crab was delicious, and the fried veal brain was amazing, but I especially loved the cherry salad.
Total price - 400 ILS ($111.72)

Pronto Restaurant - Owned by the renowned Chef David Frankel, Pronto is a refined Israeli Italian and Mediterranean restaurant. The food was extremely high quality, and the flavors were very subtle and delicious. We were planning to pay for our meal, but David knows the chef very well, and Chef David wouldn’t allow us to pay. Delicious high end gourmet food.

Jasmino - This was probably my favorite food on this entire Israeli food tour of Tel Aviv, Jasmino, specializing in grilled meat pita. The owner, another extremely kind man, ordered me the sweetbreads pita, grilled thymus and bottom part of lamb throat glands, with salad and tahini. It was extraordinary. My kind of a place.
Price - 28 ILS ($7.82)

And that completed our Tel Aviv food tour!

In Israel, the cuisine is limited to Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Ethiopian, Moroccan, Yemenite, Lebanese, Iraqi, Iranian, French, Italian, British, Russian, German, Armenian, Greek, Turkish, Australian, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Kurdish, Argentinian, Brazilian, Mexican, and North American. If none of that appeals to you, go hungry! Wherever Jews come from, they bring their food with them. And non-Jews who come to live in Israel bring their food as well.

A reminder that whenever a video has the title 'Israel/Israeli'' stay away from the comments and just enjoy the video for what it is

Please guys stop this non sense, Mark is only a guy who likes to eat food, he is not a politician and neither did he do anything to create the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
So if you want to direct your anger, direct it at the politicians who are responsible for the problem rather than posting hate comments on a video about food.
Love you Mark, great video as always.

Seriously how can people dislike Food video? On top of that how can you dislike Mark's vid. He is such a nice and a humble YouTuber. People are weird!

It is ironic that i saw an Abu Hassan in Tel Aviv and no Israeli in Middle East. And yet they call these guys fascists and zionists. What freaking nonsense.

Mark! After I saw how they made your Sabich I had to try one. Instead of booking a flight there, I found out there is this wonderful hole in the wall in Kaimuki, across St Louis High, that makes the best Sabich on the island called Shaloha! I told the owner about Migrationology. For my first visit (last week) I tried the Shaloha plate which has every item on the menu. I returned today and the owner saw your video. He made me the exact Sabich with the eggplant, eggs, tahini, humus and every salad mix you could imagine. it even had the purple cabbage salad on top! The owner said the Sabich is a traditional food to eat after prayer. I just finished eating it and it was an absolutely heavenly lunch! I hope you go there when you return to the islands. Aloha!

Mark, I liked the video very much.
I have to say a few things.
Israeli food is influenced by many countries from which Jews arrived.
My grandparents came from Morocco, they brought with them a Moroccan Jewish kitchen, different but similar to the Moroccan Arab kitchen.
Not all the food presented here represents Israel, of course. There is a lot of Arab food here, which we eat in neighboring countries. For example, the falafel that came from Egypt, the hummus from Syria and Lebanon...In short, Israel combines a diverse kitchen, with traditional Arab food on the one hand, which will not change for hundreds of years. And there is the Jewish / Israeli food that was directly affected, both from the countries from which Jews came and from the local food.
It is important to note that during the period when Israel was called Palestine, Jews lived alongside Arabs and all were called Palestinians. To this day, despite the political situation in Israel, Jews and Arabs live side by side, work together, eat together and share food with one another.
So please those who do not know anything about Israel, stop all the political statements and come visit, maybe you will learn something you did not know.
Peace .
