I bought it 2016, but I had to wait untill 2019 to find those minorities to accompany me watching Moonlight. Well, I must confess it was shocking, I couldn't somehow connect and somehow I could really connect to it. Like you well said, I guess that is because of feeling being "minorities" without a voice which traps you into doubts about how to feel about it.
However, now in 2021, I can watch anything without any worries about how others think, and I want to rewatch it again. 😭

The school to prison pipeline in America is REAL, particularly in predominately Black neighborhoods. It's weird that you don't buy it when you're not American and refuse to accept it as is within the film; whereas if you're skeptical you could just verify it by googling it. Here let me help you out, google "school-to-prison pipeline". Quit thinking you're specific and limited experience in a specific part of the country is universal to everywhere else and apply it to a film's logic and then call it a "flaw"
