When my friend and I were 19 we worked in the instrument sterilization room in a hospital. One day we sang this beautiful song, I sang melody and she sang harmony. After a little while of us blissfully singing "Morning has Broken" the Nurse Manager of the Surgery Dept down the hall came to us and said "I'm sorry, girls, but I need to ask you to stop singing. The patients in the Recovery Room are waking up thinking they've died and gone to heaven." True story.

In 1973 I was staying on the third floor of an old Creole house in Freetown, Sierra Leone, jammed with old dressers. It was a depressing room to sleep in but was lit up at 6 am with the strains of Cat Stevens singing "Morning Has Broken". I looked out over the city - not a person in sight. That may classify as one of the miracles of my life.
