Does the bare blade version of the guardian have those recessed areas on the base of the blade near the guard?

Looks like a sword I might buy. Seems sturdy (as per Jason's video tests) and looks great! Shame about the price difference between Europe and US though :/

Now i understand i can buy blunted versions of your swords. Does this mean they are all the same strong? My local Ren fair wont let me have a sharp blade on my side. Also i would like to have a bit of fun with my friends who have blunted blades. So i just wanna know if there is any difference what so ever between sharpened and blunted.
