🦊 In this GCSE Biology video, we explain how increasing carbon dioxide concentration boosts the rate of photosynthesis up to a certain point. Initially, at low CO2 levels, the rate of photosynthesis is also low. However, as the CO2 concentration rises, the rate of photosynthesis increases, until it reaches a point where it no longer changes despite further increases in CO2 levels. This plateau indicates that another factor, such as light intensity, becomes the limiting factor for further enhancing the rate of photosynthesis. The video illustrates this concept with a graph showing that at high light intensity and optimal temperature, the plateau in the rate of photosynthesis is due to carbon dioxide levels becoming the limiting factor.
