The mile-long tunnel is designed to transform commutes and was intended to allow cars to go up to 150 miles per hour. With test runs only allowing cars to safely go around 45 miles per hour, Musk admitted that the tunnel isn’t there yet.

Highly unlikely Musk will find a cost effectie energy efficient way to pull a car 140mph thru a tunnel and on top of that get it lowered into tunnel safecly via an elevator. Given the thousands of cars per day and likely mechanical breakdowns. What makes more sense is to bore numerous tunnels in order to add more lanes for traffic. Cars will drive into the tunnel via above ground off-ramps with downward sloping lanes into underground tunnel. The cars will drive thru tunnel on their own power, no need for spending unheard of money on a system to pull vehicle thru.

Elon could make planes that are electric, and solar on the outside with one aviation engine and own that market too.
