Over-Under Cable Wrapping

Basic "twist" method of coiling cables in the over/under method. There are a couple different ways to do this, this video shows one way. Regardless, make sure the loops are the proper (and consistent) diameter.

For 35 years of working in audio, this is EXACTLY the way I teach it. Even people who cannot get the specific "actions" of back wrapping will understand what the finger pinch and roll does! I've seen hundreds of explanations by others fail, but this way works 100% of the time when I teach it. Eventually as the person gets more comfortable they don't think about the twisting but do it naturally. Good job!

Thank you for making a video that explains this without talking for 10 minutes at the beginning

THE UNDER GOES BEHIND THE LOOP!!! Wow, thanks for the "A-ha!" moment. I've seen so many tutorials with the over under and I could never do it right. This makes sense now.

Best video of this coiling method by far! All the others go into confusing detail about how your thumbs should be pointing this way, your palms that way... all while neglecting to show us simply what the cable does and why it’s called over/under, like this explanation. Being short and to the point is a bonus.

Thank you so much for posting this! There were plenty of videos on how to wrap long cables, but none that showed your twisting technique for shorter cables. After struggling for a while using earlier videos, then getting it with yours - I was way more excited than a person should reasonably be about wrapping a cable. I then proceeded to rewrap and tie every cable in my apartment.

This has been stuck in my mind for months because I saw a video about the over under technique but they couldnt teach it properly. It was really confusing. This, by far is the best explanation I've ever seen. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Did not know how to wrap a guitar cable. Saw other trash tutorials, did not work out for me. This tutorial despite being the shortest taught me in 1 minute❤

about 15 years ago when i was in high school, i took some graphic design/digital recording courses through my local community college. digital photography, digital drawing, digital video, and digital sound; a lot of cables involve in the latter two. they they tried to teach us how to do the over-under wrapping. they taught it in person, and most of us didn't grasp what they were talking about. this video is so much more helpful than they were lol i watched this video one time, did the wrapping as i watched, and now i feel like i'll never forget how to do it. great video.

There are so many of these videos where people show us how to do it... facing us... which is backwards from how it looks to us. That just makes it confusing! Thank you for giving us the 1st person perspective!

This is the 6th video in a row I tried watching - this was the one that made it finally make sense, thank you!

You lifesaver you!! This video deserves all the love. I tried about 10 others videos and could not figure it out at all, but your way makes it sooo much simpler, and you filmed it from the right angle too!

Thank you so much for your help! You’re one of the only people who show it nice and slowly and without added steps!

I switched to this loop style after endless frustration with the old arm wrap method - but I was alternating which side of the wrap I would place each over and each under loop. The explicit "don't do it like that, do it like this" instruction is the key I was missing. Thanks for the vid!

thanks heaps for this. been shown a few different ways, but your method explains it better than any other! :)

Wow this makes a lot more sense the way you explained it, it’s as simple as hold the cable in front of you, twist away from you then loop the twist toward you then loop.

Great tutorial! Out of every video, this is by far the easiest method of explaining it

Many thanks for having the wherewithal to do a point of view video. I had instant rage trying to learn this with all the top videos completely backwards.

This is the first video I've watched of this technique that made sense to me, thank you! I've just been out and done the same with my garden hose and it coiled up so much more neatly and, crucially, uncoiled without tangling.

The point of view from the body was especially helpful! Thanks!
