When the brand-new BWM iX1 – the company’s entry-level luxury electric SUV – turned up in our office, it caused quite an uproar among our team members. Our colleague Dhruv Paliwal claimed that it’s the best luxury EV in its segment after driving it just once, while Aakash argued it was no match for the stunning Volvo C40 Recharge. Karan, meanwhile, claimed both the BMW and Volvo are half-baked efforts. He claimed it’s the Kia EV6 that’s the undisputed king of the segment because of its style, spaciousness and abundance of features. More importantly, it offers the best value-for-money, claimed Karan. However, upon hearing the term value-for-money, Shivank barged in and claimed that no one does it better than the Hyundai Ioniq 5, which is substantially more affordable than the other three, and is equally capable if not more.

The question is, who made the right choice? We let our men bicker and slug it out in the real-world – and at a go-kart track – to find the answer for you.

What’s your pick – the iX1, C40, EV6, or Ioniq 5 – and why? Let us know in the comments

The segment where the guy standing up for each car wasn't allowed to talk while the remaining 3 bashed the car being driven was brilliant. More reviews in this format please - a breath of fresh air from all the other reviews which just keep harping on about marketing material for the car.

A very interesting format. A lot of laughs. It was good to see the pros and cons being shared.. Usually that is not the case.. Looking forward to more of these honest comparisons..

the best car is not just lap times.. all that bickering should have played a role in deciding the best overall car. although my answer would've still remained the same

One thing that was only briefly mentioned was the ridiculous amount of bouncing going on in the rear seats of the Ioniq5. Trust me, take a test drive at 100-120KMPH and ask the passengers in the rear how they feel - they will be all over the place and will be begging you to slow down at the slightest bit of undulations.
