I was born in Montana. The most formative years of my life were spent in the Montana wilderness. I now and for the past decade have lived in the Midwest. My friends have always told me that the Midwest is where the true natural beauty of the nation lies. But I've always spoken to the contrary, much to the dismay of my peers. But when they would ask me what was so special about the Montana wilderness, I always stumbled because I could not put into words the beauty of such a place. So I always just told them to listen to this score and watch this film. Even though they both are almost thirty years old I still believe, that they come closest to capturing the essence of its beauty.

My wife walked down the aisle to this at our wedding. She looked beautiful. The music was beautiful too.

to love completely without fully understanding...bless you wherever you are John Maclean, when you will have suffered to be able to say it...you cry...
the most striking sequence is the last sermon of Paul's father, whoever listens to that short passage will never forget it because it happens to all of us that we cannot help our loved ones many times and we can only love them completely...

This composer is my favorite! When I was younger

i used to ride my bike along the Erie Canal in Rochester New York and I listened to and loved Vapor Drawings. I've been a great fan ever since! His score in The Majestic and Fly away home touch my soul. I would love to meet this genius.

Mark can’t even tell you how this score informed my life! It was a perfect companion for so many special years. My very own, seemingly. Thank you and such a lovely reminder to see it in my feed today. I would have been in my young twenties during this time. And the emotion captured by these cues helped me to plug into some of the very deepest joys and sorrows, and the hope of a young man struggling and growing as we all do. As is often the case - music can express and convey what words cannot. And for that, and more - I thank you for this. :)

The first track alone should have secured it the Best Score Oscar, imo.

One of my all time favorite movies even though I was already into fly fishing and tying flies at 13 before this movie came out it was a part of what fueled the passion to delve deep into the waters that 35 years later has become a passion and obsession and it's better than any drug or alcoholic drink on the planet.

Brother.
My friend and my ally through thick and through thin,
O brother they do not know the war we were in,
A war with no flags no people or races,
A war with a dream and unconquered places,
When i was scared in the night you quickly switched on the light,
Hurriedly to tell me everything was alright,
Comfort and love you gave it to me,
I thank you dear brother i hope that you see,
That when we walked you used to hold my hand,
And take me to places like far away lands,
I was but half your size you were a giant to me,
Through the eyes of a child you were a a wonder to see,
We fought most times argued as brothers do,
But the love that we shared was all that i knew,
They will never understand the war we were in,
A war in which we won, was the battle within.

49:31 to 49:38 pipes irsh What is meant by the music is that it is Irish, and the McClain family is an American family of Irish origin. As for the music at the beginning of the musical clip, it may be set to be a wedding in one of the rural churches.

Although I am unfamiliar with Mr Isham's music, I was entranced by the tuneful, beautifully orchestrated score composed by him for this memorable film. It would be interesting to compare it to the Elmer Bernstein score [not composed after Elmer and Redford disagreed over the tone of the film].

And me ladies and lords forget not the fly fishing that u ites the entire stream of life from beginning to end yet begs the question ... with what acumun, acuity or grace shall we live it: In my myopic opinion, it challenges my utmost purview on all life belief systems whilst embracing them all ... zen without zen, mindfulness without mind, a dream that ajudicates life, and yet but a a life that fonds the only too well on the dream aforenight. As the song goes : Row, row the boat.... ( gently back into stream). Hence fly fish while ye may...it's sustainable ( from the stream) or go ' roll in the hay' and end up in the stream. Keep an open mind with this....life ( whatever in betwèen) ...we are death's fish- food yet live well NOW!!! BTW: Ask for me? See the inverted sign? Yup ' Gone Fishing'..
