My theory is that, when the village appears, the creepers came, and always it blows up the houses, the did experiments and find out that they are afraid of cats, so they bring cats to village for protection...

How creepers were made: there was a wise witch that took a pig and made an explosive potion with gunpowder, she put the potion on the pig, when she poured it the pig was burning and exploded, the witch looked and saw it was a pink mutated creature without arms but still 4 legs, and the creature slipped onto the green potion and became a hostile mob
