Oh my goodness how could you leave out the battle of Leningrad it lasted 880 days and over 1.1 million Russian lives alone that's not counting the axes loss

Casualties include the dead and wounded. Total deaths are only a subset of total casualties. Regardless, the death tolls are still incredibly horrific and, frankly, being permanently mutilated and crippled is pretty damn horrific as well.
