I'd implore anyone who loves the idea of heavy surf rock to check out agent orange, an orange county early hardcore band that started out playing alot of surf rock standards along with their first original work

it's not just surf with distortion tho, it's in an entirely different style with the metal drums and power chord chugging. if it was just distorted surf it'd probably sound more like surf punk
