You have three choices when it comes to Utah license plates — Arches, Skier and In God We Trust — and Utahns pick one of them 89% of the time. But the other 11% want to make more of a statement, and the Utah Division of Motor Vehicles is happy to accommodate with more than 70 options for special plates. Up until this year, the Utah Legislature has fielded requests for new license plate options, passing legislation for the ones they agree to. But this year legislators passed HB26 (License Plates Amendments), which now requires DMV to confirm the option meets the state’s requirements.

I have the Zion National Park Centennial plate since my ancestor named Zion. I was sad to see that it has been retired in favor of a new Zion plate with the West Temple on it instead of my favorite mountain, The Great White Throne. I like the new Zion plate, but I like the one with the Great White Throne better. The Zion Forever logo on the new plate is great; just wish they had kept the old design with it.

This is mildly interesting. I would have liked to see a little background like are the plates made by prisoners? Who designs them? Etcetera
