The toxic trait of interior design.

In this video, I'm addressing the FEAR and PARALYSIS that many of us face with interior design choices. And then I seek to offer to light-lift ways to start making steps towards your goals. Every design client I've ever had is losing sleep over these 3 questions. Today...we're gonna tackle them. Truly excited about this video. I guess I'm on a lecture roll now. This one was edited by me, next video will be a vlog!
Thanks for supporting me, and getting me, and making this channel possible ❤️

Stumbled by accident into your channel. You had me at “there are no child prodigy throw pillow arrangers” I nearly spat my tea out! However I’m British and that would be a waste of tea. Finally someone who doesn’t BS. 👍

For designing my house, I think back to my childhood and what made me feel the most loved and at home. My grandma. So I honestly have a home that looks more like an older woman's house, but I love the coziness of it. It reminds me of happier moments in my life.

Great video and message. The other thing I hate is how we design “to sell” a home rather than for how WE live in a space…ugh

Haha “we’re all gonna die and let’s not lose sleep over what shade of white to paint the kitchen”! So true and the best advice ever! Not just for interior design but life in general!!

Omg. “We’re all gonna die.” That’s like, “you had me at hello!” I’m not three seconds into this video and I had to stop it and let you know you’re my cure for whatever is ailing me. You remind me of my daughter. I was moving and shaking like a mad woman in my house today and was like, “Wait, what did Caroline say about corralling the stuff? Where’s my trays…..” seriously, I had a day and it’s all thanks to you and your inspirational videos. Keep ‘me coming!!

Just discovered you Caroline. I’m so glad I typed in “ideas for design for my angled ceiling awkward room” . Not only did I learn SO many( very doable ) cool ideas but I just really love your personality. It just made my day better. Can’t wait to see if my daughters have discovered you. Cause if they didn’t , I LOVE when I can show them something new that they have not discovered yet .

You had me when, in a different video, I found out that you also hate those pointless wooden beads and Pinterest pantries.
I stayed for your authenticity, your originality combined with your sense of humor and creativity.
A couple nights ago, I watched the video where you cut your bangs and as I was trying to fall asleep, I kept chuckling thinking about it. Why is this important? Because I am usually thinking about what I need to accomplish at work the next day and it gives me anxiety. Thanks for the ideas and the laughter.
Girl, you are so relatable!

My youngest daughter began rearranging the furniture at 2. By 3 she had names for each style of pillow arrangement for the couch. She would go through the racks at clothing stores, on her tiptoes, and tell me what I should try on. She's now 23 and a nurse.

I love the way to show the picture with and without various details (colour, photos on the walls, etc.). It really helps to show the impact these items/details have on a space.

Just saw this…You’re lovely! I so appreciated your delivery and how refreshingly down to earth, to-the-point you were. Especially the bit about not being too precious. Well said.

You have taught me for the first time in my life how to design to my taste and ignore what may or may not be considered stylish. Thank you

Wow. I think this was probably the most helpful interior design breakdown for non interior designers I’ve ever seen on YouTube. Thanks!

For folks who don’t do Pinterest or social media, if you see something you really like, take a screen shot with your phone and save the image!
Love these videos! 👏🏻

Owner of a purple velvet sofa here! 😂Actually, it's a deep plum/fig velvet, but I about broke out into a cold sweat when I ordered it. Too expensive to grow tired of the color soon, but I've had it for three years and still love it. I have a light blue leather chair next to it and get so many compliments on all of it.

❤ all your points & completely concur! Meanwhile … I said it 30 years ago, I’ll say it again : ‘… the problem is design’s driven by real estate agents’ ideals of resale, rather than reflecting the lifestyle and taste of the occupants.”

Quick clarification! These are not "rules for using color", nor "how to use color". Rather, these are a handful of ways to start introducing color, for anyone who is NERVOUS to do so. Aka, for anyone who's feeling intimidated by what feels like a risk or financial investment in larger, more opinionated pieces. In this video, I'm addressing the FEAR and PARALYSIS that many of us face with interior design choices. And then I seek to offer to light-lift ways to start making steps towards your goals. Hope it's helpful! 🧡

The one piece of design advice I ignore is, “Get rid of the blinds.” I love light. I love big windows. And blinds are the best way to finesse the amount and kind of light coming through those big windows at any time of the day. And bamboo blinds don’t cut it. Nor do big wooden slat blinds. So I have to just think, “It’s not like God is going to give me
a D+ for my home decor because I have blinds on my windows.”

I never watch videos all the way thru and easily get annoyed with people. But you sound like you could be one of my friends and are very enjoyable to listen to. I didn’t skip once. 😊

That closet tip is the best design tip I've ever heard. I had this bright idea to paint our first house in "Earthy" tones which translated to the whole house being painted brown. It was a very small, dark house so it felt like a root cellar. I was so fixated on that palette that I didn't realize I just wanted muted neutrals, with natural materials incorporated, just like my closet. Great video!
