Another tip: be considerate of your teammates, seriously if there’s a griller or glow fly round please for the love of god “this way!” To let you mates know that you’re being targeted and find high ground. I’ve gone down TWO ranks just because of a lack of communication between my mates. Salmon Run is a team effort!

The biggest tip is just a general Salmon Run tip:

Here's a tip: Only during Big Run (or only on Wahoo World), you can tell the tide by how you spawn. Everyone knows Mid Tide is when you go to the far spawn point, but High Tide is when you land with everyone facing different directions, while Low Tide has everyone facing the same direction towards the gushers.

One thing I really hoped for in Splatoon 3 was more communication options. We could collect them like titles and badges. Similar to smash bros ultimate, you can customize the layout and press it to communicate after and before the match. I'm sure more communication would really help with salmon run and probably competitive game modes. Especially when you are playing with random people you don't know. "this way!" And "booyah" isn't enough to be honest. I really hope they add something like this but I doubt it.

With some digging into. Its not that Nintendo didnt wanna include the other game modes in big run. Its just that they couldn't get them to work properly :(

My biggest tip is that Big Run is a score chase mode, not a survival mode like regular Salmon Run is. As such, play more aggressively than you usually do if you don't generally engage in 'over fishing', the goal here isn't to pass waves, and a Wave 3 loss that scores you 100 eggs is better for you than a Wave 3 win where you played it safe and are only hitting 75. Lure more. Use your specials to take down bosses faster rather than keep your team alive. Let snatchers bring eggs to the basket if they spawn the other side of it to the (they always return to their spawn, and a lot are spawning on the far side of the basket, particularly when you're on the spawn basket rather than the mid basket)

If your team's not luring in this high score chasing event, and a couple get splatted on the shore equivalent for Wahoo World, consider letting them come closer to you than you strictly need to chuck a bomb to them while just one or two bosses make it to whichever of the two basket areas you've got for that wave.

Am I an asshole for doing that? Probably. Did it work? It was our best wave of the run, and the only one we broke 30 eggs on (To be fair, the first wave of that run was grillers and we struggled to find a good spot for them) - I usually find once one or two bosses make it to the basket area if you're just getting lurable bosses the luring happens on its own (as long as you're able to keep the basket area clear enough to not get overwhelmed) and that felt like an opportunity to break the 'fighting scrappers on the shores' problem that was keeping our egg count down that wave.

Not managed to break 100 eggs yet, so I'm not expecting any better than silver, but with just 98 eggs I might drop into the most aesthetically pleasing bronze trophy zone. Still trying my best, though. Haven't found the balance of more aggressive special use since Big Run is about score chasing rather than a survival usage and not being overly aggressive with them and using e.g. a ink jet on a single flyfish at the start of a match yet. Hoping to get there tomorrow.

On the lack of mudmouths, goldie seeking, and tornado - I just don't think it would work with this map. The gushers on the map aren't being used as gushers but spawning points for salmon so mud, and goldie seeking wouldn't work for it, while there's no real far shore to speak of compared to the basket location so I can't conceive of tornado working - low tide is in the middle of two high points. Meanwhile, the free wave that doesn't require any design of the map to accommodate, Mothership, is still available, and while it's less free than Tornado, it's still fairly straightforward to break 40 eggs on the wave if you've got a decent amount of long-range weapons. Especially high tide mothership.
