Holy Week with Bishop Robert Barron

This past week the Church throughout the world marked and remembered the suffering, death, and resurrection of Christ the Lord. In these great events a power broke into our world that has changed everything and imbued humanity with abundant life and incomparable joy.

This life and joy was on vivid display as I celebrated the mysteries of Holy Week with the faithful of my pastoral region. My Word on Fire team has created this wonderful video compilation of the events of Holy Week that shows the power of Christ's resurrection vibrantly alive in his Church.

Thank you for your videos and evangelism Father Barron. When I first decided to learn about Catholicism I found your videos and was so moved by them, that I decided to convert. I must say I'm not a great Catholic, I haven't even been baptized yet which means I guess I'm not a Catholic. I failed my Lent fast pretty miserably too, though I can say it helped me be a better person (I gave up cursing - mostly. Just being honest.). I still struggle with embracing some of the doctrine, but have widened my perspective a great deal. Please pray for me on my spiritual journey as I strive to be a better person and servant to God. Thank you!

Your Excellency, I've always been very moved by your witness to the faith, as well as this revamped push to the argument of beauty. This year, I'm hoping you may finally expand on the witness of beauty in the Liturgy herself; what elements naturally align with this argument for beauty, and if there's any part of the Mass that could better reflect this. I myself am drawn to the FSSP Latin rites, especially for its treatment of the Eucharist in tandem with our great musical tradition. Of course, I've felt the beauty and truth of the Church inside the Novus Ordo, but witnessing of rites (Ukrainian, Melkite, Anglican Ordinariate) has opened my eyes to even deeper affection for the mysticism of the Liturgy. Is there a rite you prefer that helps ultimately uncover the beauty of the Church?

Bishop Barron: love your work and have a lot of respect for you. I’d like know your view on the issue of pope saying that hell does not exist. Is that not an example of heresy? Don’t be too afraid to comment on this just because it’s coming from your boss. You’re too good a teacher to overlook this.

Can you make a video on the anti intellectual movement in the Church, Bishop? There seems to be a trend going on in this society to leave one's brain at the door of faith and believe in God intellectually blind rather than approach God through both faith and reason. I think the trend was born from a common misinterpretation of a few bible verses like "We walk by faith not by sight, " and "Trust in God and do not rely on your own understanding." Would love to see your perspective on this problem as I believe anti intellectualism to be a serious heresy, for as God Himself states in Hosea 4:6: "My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge." Not to mention the first commandment which says to love God with all of your MIND too.
