Grow your own Kohlrabi with this video tutorial from Quickcrop and veg growing expert Klaus Laitenberger.
Kohlrabi sports a rosette of blueish-green leaves above a swollen stem. This almost globe-like stem makes it appear like a turnip growing on a cabbage root, in fact In German, Kohl means cabbage and rabi means turnip . Depending on the variety the edible swollen stem can be green, white or purple.
Kohlrabi is easy to grow, nutritious and it tastes good too! If you like celery, you will like it's celery like, nutty flavor. Best of all, it is perhaps the hardiest of garden vegetables, and will grow long after your other garden vegetables have succumbed to the cold and frost.

We recently discovered kohlrabi! We find that, so far, the white kohlrabi grows much faster than the purple variety. We love the taste of the white variety! Our purple one is still n the ground so we will have to wait and see if we like the taste as well. I think we will. This veggie is so versatile. We have made dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Green smoothies at breakfast and even kohlrabi ice cream for dessert. Yum! Thanks for sharing.

My friends and I would eat Kohlrabi like apples out of my mothers garden when we were kids. I'm going to try them in my garden this spring.

Great video, love it that you show the plant at all stages of development. I'm a big fan of kohlrabi but they are quite hard to come by in Ireland unfortunately. I will attempt to grow them for the first time this year, happy to see that they grow well here!

Hey guys thanks for the video bible these are amazingly helpful. I’m in Glasgow Scotland - I guess our climates are comparable? Would you say the dates that you give are the same as what I should use?

Thanks for sharing this video. This is my first time growing veg. I sowed kohlrabi indoors last week and I wonder, do I need to 'harden' them off before transplanting outside in a few weeks?
