Kohlrabi, a member of the cabbage family is easy to grow and tastes delicious. In today's episode we look at growing Kohlrabi. Kohlrabi also means German turnip or turnip cabbage. Kohl stands for cabbage in German and Rabi means turnip. Kolhrabi is same as Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, collard greens, and Brussels sprouts - members of the wild cabbage family. Kohlrabi bulbs are the main edible part of the plant but the leaves are edible and can be used interchangeably with collard greens and kale.

This guide on growing Kohlrabi is the only one you will need to grow great Kohlrabi plants in your home garden.

Thanks fo the video. You’re the only person to tell us when you have to plant it. Before I saw your video, I was going to plant them in mid-February.

Kohlrabi Is very popular in Europe. Not like in the USA. We use it for soups, and boy, it gives the soup amazing taste. It's very healthy and very high in nutrients.

Love your videos mate.

I tried it in the greenhouse, and that year it even crossed with my broccoli (odd plants this year), but I didn't continue with it as I enjoy the other brassica's more for my space. It was good though. Your videos are always very good!

I like kohlrabi. I eat it raw like an apple. Got a hint of cabbage taste but sweet, delicious:-)

I just sowed my first Kohlrabi, in the warm winter area of Southern California. Better late than never, right? Great video, beautiful plants!

This is very interesting. Our experience in the transplants (white variety) did very well in our shadiest raised bed garden. Maybe the key is growing them from transplant. This is a new veggie for us but definitely a new favorite! We eat both leaves and bulbs.

I love kohlrabi. Used to eat it growing up in Germany. We never ate it raw just steamed/boiled with a cream sauce on top. I'll have to give it a shot raw. Cheers!

Nice video. I planted mine (CA zone 9B) in November in my raised beds but seedlings haven't come out. Maybe too cold. I should have started my seeds earlier. Question for you, for some one in nice weather zone like us, can you start seeds in seed starters outside or one needs to that indoors or in a green house?

Great video, I can't wait to try some. I am going to try growing indoors. I tried turnips and it went well, so I am thinking kohlrabi should too as they are part of the same family.
