Wild blackberries!!

Have you ever foraged this delicious wild fruit before? I honestly like black raspberry much more, but blackberries are just far more abundant in my area!

There were found at Meadowoods Farm!

I remember my biology teacher in high school would take us blackberry picking in a patch on campus, then bring homemade blackberry cobbler in for the whole class the next day. Easily one of my favorite teachers.

When we went to Vancouver Island we discovered these grow everywhere! My figles were so delighted to stop along the walk and eat right off the tree. So wonderful! 😊

Remember picking blackberries as a kid. Dad would find Mountain Mint and we would rub it, ankles, waist, arms and neck to keep the chiggers and ticks off.

Our wild blackberries here in Western NC are just starting to turn black. 95% + are still red. Next week they should start being pickable 😁

Are there any poisonous plants that look like the blackberry/raspberry plants? I see these berries all over in our parks, and I always wonder if there are real blackberries. Thanks for your helpful videos!

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like it should be pretty obvious when blackberries are ready to harvest.

I love blackberries that are overripe, they are so juicy and delicious. We have wild blackberries growing bringing the house and I’ve been out there picking them to make jam.

Always remember to rinse your berries and soak if you can. I get some worm buddies on mine I don't want to be eating :p

I usually go by tenderness if they're soft enough that they are plump but bursting they're the sweetest

If you look closely you’ll see that some of the black ones has a slightly less shiny look - those are the sweetest ones. If you’re cooking them it doesn’t matter, but for eating raw it’s really worth making the destination.

When they have a tiny hew of red at the stem is the perfect berry. Sweet and sour balance is prime

I used to do that a lot as a kid. Except when they had bugs on them. Lol

I love red raspberries, me and my family were hiking a few weeks ago and found a bush of it, they were delicious and we were running around the bush trying to get the best ones lol
