Both NES & SNES Classic Minis have save states as well. Looking forward to the Sega Genesis Mini for Christmas.

Got this for Christmas, had an original Sega Genesis back in the 90's, what comes with the game is great and definitely worth the price of the unit, BUT, when you get the TruBlue Flashdrive, then you have 812 games, worth the 32.00 bucks I spent for it., definitely a must buy and with the Hack, you have an arcade in your house. All the games you mentioned, the trublue has them all

Grew up with Nintendo cause Sega wasn’t popular in my area. No one even cared for PlayStation until Crash Bandicoot released and then everyone wanted a PlayStation after that cause it topped Super Mario 64 in many ways and that was the holy grail for the video gaming times in this area. I got into Sega through Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection on Xbox 360 a number of years ago. I still prefer SNES over it, but Genesis is an amazing console for sure.

Good video, but I wanted to point some stuff out.

1. I believe that Sega should have had a six button controller as one of the two controllers to be included. This would have solved the fighting games problem. Playing Virtua Fighter 2, Street Fighter 2, or Eternal Champions with 3 buttons isn’t fun. I do prefer the original controller for everything else though. It feels comfortable and smooth.

2. Sega couldn’t have legally put all of the Genesis library on here for copyright reasons. Many of those developers went out of business as the years have gone by and many of the musicians that made the music would have had to have been paid. The reason why a Sonic game wasn’t on here was because of a dispute that Michael Jackson had with Sega over composing the music many years ago.

3. I like how Sega carefully chose a diverse list of games to try to appeal to everyone and they went out of their way to license definite games that must have not been cheap just to get out a quality product. Castlevania: Bloodlines, Mega Man: The Wily Wars, Gunstar Heroes, Contra: Hard Corps, were all heavy Sega hitters back in the day. The only questionable game that was missing would have to be Ristar. It must have been overlooked by Sega by accident or it possibly was still under contract by At Games. All I know is that it is my second favorite Genesis game and I hate that it was on every At Games Genesis, but not on Sega’s flagship Mini.

4. Fans are always releasing new hacks for these mini consoles and I’m waiting on a hack to unlock the whole library for this console. Sony released an awful product that had so much potential with the PlayStation Mini. The modding community saved it and made it a quality product by giving it a better emulator and a better selection of games. You can’t call it a PlayStation Classic without Spyro and Crash Bandicoot games as an example. Heck, Crash was the Sony mascot back in the day that called Mario out while standing outside Nintendo HQ.

5. Raspberries Pi setups can appeal to some people, but I don’t want everything in a single console. I like diversity with authentic controllers. Sure you could hack a Nes or SNES Mini to have everything, including Genesis games, on it. I wouldn’t want to do that because of the controller. Playing a Genesis game with a SNES controller just wouldn’t be the same.

6. Streets Of Rage 3 sucked. The better version was the Japanese “Bare Knuckles 3” and they couldn’t have that on the Genesis cause that was a different region. Streets Of Rage 2 is my favorite Genesis game, but the third was awful. Same thing with Golden Axe 3 being terrible.

Dudes both the NES and SNES Mini did had state-states, just exit a game and it will allow you to create a save point at any time.

They do make a mini 32x that goes on top of the Genesis mini, also a sega cd that plugs in to the mini. They are just purely for looks though...

Is there anyway to smooth the graphics out? I have a 55 in 4K and every game looks pretty blocky. Isn't there a crt or scanline option? Anyway to fix this?

10:53 - when you suck at the game :) Actually bought one of these recently for the GF. Was on sale for $59.99. She's a Sonic fan so it's a shame it's missing some titles but w/e. Already have the NES / SNEs and the dreadful PS1 Class (couldn't pass up $19.99)

Why limit to only 40 games? Doesn’t make sense. Just put the entire catalog on then it’s worth the money
