The best mini classic I have ever bought. The nes and snes I bought and sold because I got bored with them, I can't wait for the European turbograffix 16 mini.

Definately THE mini console I suggest picking up, SEGA really went all out with this one. I actually got a PS1 Classic for 20€, added a 128Gb sd card and installed Autobleem, it can emulate up to PSP and N64 if tweaked properly. The MD Mini is less powerfull but I might pick one up when the price drops just for the nostalgia. This is going to be a huge success in Europe. Great video my friend ;)

Thanks for sharing your opinion, Johnny :) I'll be getting one for myself, but on sale later down the road. I always play these classics on their original 4:3 aspect ratio, but I never apply the scanlines. I want to be able to admire those sharp and clean edges on the sprites and graphics. I dont' know... I guess it's a "pixel thing" ;)
For now, I only have the NES mini since it was released and I haven't even take it out of the box! As you know, I have my home-made arcade cab and I play all those games with my favorite controller from the 8 and 16bit era: the arcade stick. So, what's the rush? For me it doesn't make sense grabbing these mini consoles on the day of release. I always go back to my good-old arcade to play those classics ;)

I played SNES mini and it´s great but i more hyped for Mega Drive.I didn´t play the original because Mega Drive was an constant presence in my house and my brothers played Fifa. I have NES mini classic for 2 years and i love it but man i want Mega Drive mini only for having the best of both worlds.

Interesting thing you said about the CRT filter...I agree it makes the games look darker on the Mega Drive Mini, but I also think you get a really nice authentic image quality too, whereas the CRT filter on the NES Mini and SNES Mini makes the games look a bit too blurry in my opinion. It's tough to decide which is the best mini console...I had both when I was younger but got the SNES first so I have a bit more nostalgia for it. I slightly prefer the gameplay of Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island to Sonic (Sonic's still great, and Tails is probably my favourite character!) but the Mega Drive Mini just has so much going for it like the awesome Monster World IV, Landstalker, Gunstar Heroes and Phantasy Star IV. The Mega Drive Mini boasts more games than the SNES Mini also has a few duds in my opinion like Virtua Fighter 2, Altered Beast and Mean Bean Machine (not a fan of it) though so it kind of balances out with the SNES Mini having fewer games but pretty much all top quality games...even Super Punch Out and Kirby's Dream Course are pretty good fun.

I think everybody should own both of the 16 bit mini consoles if they can, I don't think I could really pick between the two, especially once the Mega Drive Mini gets properly hacked. It's excellent as it is now, but I'm really looking forward to adding some of my favourites like Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Shadow Dancer, Rolling Thunder 2 & 3 and Tiny Toons: Buster's Treasure Hunt soon.

Nice take on this, very, very nice! Oh man, trying to choose between even the SNES and Gen/MD minis? The variety of games in the MD is so good, but SNES has some hard-hitting RPGs to contend with, and for me personally, that's a high selling point. I honestly do not think I can choose...sorry for the cop out. lol


One of the reason we love having these mini systems is for the convenience. Sure, we have the native systems and often the majority of the games offered on them, but these make it so easy to pack up and play elsewhere, at a friend and family's place, or on the road at a hotel if we want to get our retro on. They're great travel buddies but once in a while, we just want to play hassle-free at home and be super lazy and not have to get up to swap games. lol

I am a fan of these mini systems... my only gripe is that these need to be a bit cheaper and more accessible. I don't like how these are being used as a way to make money on the resale market... that is what the original's are for. It was kind of annoying that I couldn't have an NES Classic due to the low volume of releases.

A minha primeira consola foi a NES, tem um cantinho especial para mim. Mas sinceramente, a mega drive foi a melhor mini. Desde a "publicidade", a consola em si, o hardware e software. Souberam agarrar os fãs desde o início.

Eu ainda não tenho a MD mini mas no que toca a nostalgia irei sempre escolher a SEGA. Até porque eu nunca tive Nintendo. Bom vídeo ;) ! Abraço.

I still haven't picked one up, waiting to see if they can hack it like the nes classic. I have the nes classic and it's great, but I still prefer playing original hardware on my CRT in my game room.

im not buy yet this classic mini, but if i ever been buy, that is gonna be something best, but, i have compilation games by Sega for PS3 and i will enjoy on they because of Sonic the Hedgehog who have 6 games by him(1, 2, Spinball, 3, Sonic&Knuckles and 3D Blast)who all played before on one CD for computer and i will satisfied, of other games on this CD, i play ESwat, Bonanza Bros. and Gain Ground, from Genesis, i have best moments with Road Rash, Gunstar Heroes is one of games i love try it, who knows, may be i will buy this system one day
