Side Arm Throwing Mechanics | PREVENT INJURIES With This

Coach Duke Baxter explains how to prevent injuries by correcting baseball and softball players who throw sidearm. He uses the connection ball in the crease of the elbow of the throwing arm. The goal of the player is to keep the ball in between their elbow and shoulder. To keep the ball here, the player cannot throw sidearm. Throwing sidearm with the upright position will cause the ball to fall outward. To properly do this drill, the arm has to rotate up over the shoulder to keep the ball in place and helps to do continuous mind muscle connection until they can throw properly without the ball.

Thanks for the video. Where can you get a connection ball?

You make it sound like throwing sidearm is wrong.

The ball doesn’t come out front though. Everyone says this but the ball leaves the hand right after layback, extension. That’s the confusion. I get it’s out front for infield position players at times. Is this not accurate?
