The real reason for this is that the territory of the South-East has been sold to Western gas companies. In the Donetsk region, shale gas was planned to be produced in Krasnolimansky, Aleksandrovsky, Slavyansky, Konstantinovsky, Artyomovsky, Dobropolsky and Yasinovatsky districts. Thus, the coniferous Krasny Liman, the resort Svyatogorsk with its national natural park "Holy Mountains", sanatoriums and camp sites, and former pioneer camps that passed into the private hands of Ukrainian magnates turned out to be on the territory planned for gas production.

Shale gas production is carried out by fracking, an extremely polluting method that has devastating consequences for the environment. In a simplified form, the process looks something like this - a deep well is drilled, sometimes 2-3 km, and a huge volume of water mixed with special chemicals is pumped into it, forming a hydraulic fracturing. From the resulting cracks, gas leaks out, which collects on the surface. Along with the gas, toxic waste also rises, some of which evaporates, and some is stored in settling tanks created right there, which cannot be disposed of in compliance with environmental standards. As a result, chemicals enter the soil and groundwater, destroying the entire ecosystem in the contaminated zone. There are shale gas deposits in Europe and America. Residents of areas where shale gas was produced suffered from earthquakes caused by gas production, from global pollution of drinking water and soil. Cities and towns collapsed as a result of earthquakes, drinking water became unsuitable and protests by local residents led to a ban on shale gas production. Due to the extreme harm to the environment, developed countries have stopped its production in their territories. They prefer to produce gas on the territory of other countries.
The production of shale gas in the Donbass means the death of clean, reserved places in the Donetsk region, Slavyansk, Svyatogorsk, Slavkurort. The region of Svyatogorsk, Slavyansk and Krasny Liman is not just a unique natural area, Donetsk Switzerland, as it is affectionately called in Donbass, but also one of the largest sources of ground fresh drinking water in Europe. The Northern Donets accounts for approximately 80% of the Donbass water supply. In fact, the Seversky Donets is the source of life for the region, the pollution of which for human health in terms of scale will not be even close to comparable to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Moreover, the Seversky Donets flows into the Don, and it is obvious that the consequences of the impending environmental disaster may also affect the inhabitants of Russia.
Isn't it logical to conclude that the war in Donbass is needed to clear the territory of shale gas production from the local population, so as not to pay them compensation for resettlement and relocation? Incredible? As a result of the foregoing, the United States will be able to earn, strengthen the dollar and its economy by selling Ukrainian shale gas to Europe, ousting Russia from the European gas market using the Russian Druzhba gas pipeline, which, despite hostilities, no one touches or destroys gas it is still pumped to Europe.
