Wahoo Roam user checking in. Agree about not being able to move the maps around but otherwise it’s solid. Definitely the Nokia brick of GPS LOL. I like the battery life, bigger screen and actually prefer that it’s NOT touchscreen.

The simplicity of Wahoo also makes it for me by far the most functional. I truly can't be bothered with under-performing touch screens, particularly one-handed, whilst I'm riding, in the rain. The physical buttons rule!

As always, the best reviews - bar none - on the Internet. Clear, concise, hit the main points, etc etc -- in *4* minutes. Most 'reviewers' would take hours or many pages to do what you do. Bravo! And I've also long been a Garmin FanBoy (just got the 830). Thanks DK!

1040 solar is GREAT. I’ve had it for two months here in Southern California and I’ve charged it ONCE

Great vid! I went from 10 years of Garmin to Wahoo Roam. I’m so much happier. No more failed uploads and downloads. The Wahoo navigation is solid. My Garmin couldn’t even find my street address!?

I've never used a desktop to sync my rides on my Hammerhead. I absolutely love it. I do appreciate the battery life could be improved. But I rarely ride for more than 10 hours. No issues

I’m happy with the Garmin Edge 530 which cost less than £200 in the UK, doesn’t have a touchscreen but the extra that it would cost doesn’t seem worth it.

I loved my Wahoo but the maps/directions were lacking. I switched to a Hammerhead and the routes and route correction are next level. Yes the battery does drain rather fast and syncing routes is a pain but you can do it from your phone. I paste in URLs from RWGPS but I hope this is something that can be improved with a future release. Also the hill climbing feature is awesome too

I'm an Industrial Designer for Garmin and very interested to hear your feedback! I recently started so I haven't been on an edge specific project yet but sure would love the opportunity to make some good changes. I'm spoiled so i'm rocking an edge 1040 solar from around the office

I have both Garmin and Wahoo and use Wahoo everyday, because hey, it's more in your face navigation cues and data fields and physical buttons too. On long adventures I use Garmin as I have an external battery for it which means it can navigate for 60 hours + without recharging.

It’s as if having a back ground in design and being a good communicator makes for good reviews. Thanks again.

I disagree on the Karoo 2 needing a desktop to download routes? I’ve done this quite well from my phone. Both creating and finding created routes? Anyway, yes, the battery life could be improved upon. Waiting to see what the Suunto partnership yields.

Garmin for sure makes a good product.

Garmin computers are pretty slick, I went to a Fenix watch to track my biking, swimming, hiking, indoor training etc... It's super versatile, always with me and battery life is incredible. Easy sync to Strava and Garmin's site after each ride automatically and as noted super simple to add your own routes on the fly. Great suggestion on the training content I have yet to try it too. Thanks for the video I know there are wahoo loyalists too that love the product, might need to try one day.

Agree with Wahoo map complaint. When I get turned around I have to use my phone to navigate. That’s why I download my routes to my phone for offline use.

So I had a Garmin Edge 520, which was great in its day. I “upgraded” to the Edge 520 plus and it’s turned out to be a half-baked piece of garbage. Maps take forever to load and it’s constantly calculating. It can barely make it through a century in terms of the battery. But I think that there’s one underrated feature with Garmin that keeps me (and will continue to keep me) coming back, which is accident detection. I think it’s so clever and reassuring and I can’t understand why it isn’t an option on other head units.

Another great video I want to get the explorer 2 as I use my garmin like you do and have the non touch 530. One weird thing I haven’t seen any YouTuber cover is the difference on routes garmin vs rwgps for us gravel goons. If you take the exact same route put in garmin connect then load to unit. Then take rwgps route load to unit both by app. The garmin route will navigate much better. I am a Garmin fanboy but like collections in rwgps and my club has a club account. I find it really weird that the exact same route navigates so much better especially in gravel. Give it a shot and you will see what I mean.

Thanks Dustin. On another note what top tube bag are you using under your top tube in this video? Your thoughts on it? I’ve purchased a couple but not satisfied yet. Much appreciated.

I like my edge 530 because it Doesn’t have a touch-screen, which is useless in the hot, high humidity, environments I ride in.
