Do we really need 8 glasses of water a day to stay healthy? Drinking 8 glasses of water will make your skin glow! Well..is it? I have rough and dry skin as I do not drink enough water. Today Flickinfacts will bust the myth, “Drink lots of water and everything will be fine”

• Sixty percent of our body is water..No, it’s not true. In fact zero percent of our body is water, not one millimeter of it is pure water it’s all electrolyte fluids/minerals (sodium, potassium, calcium) and lot of other fluids.
• Many few people know that excessive consumption of water, especially in small sips is quickly absorbed by our body. This may lower the sodium levels in body. A low level of Sodium can be fatal and may cause swelling of the brain along with other complications.
• Your question will be, “How much water should I actually drink?” Well the answer is very simple. Drink water only when you are thirsty. Fact is that you don’t have to force yourself to drink water when you’re not thirsty because your body does know when it’s thirsty! It’s not just about drinking water. But you must also eat high water content foods.
• And now another crazy myth…….drinking lots of Water helps you lose weight by flushing out the fats..*BUZZER SOUND* FALSE! simply because fat is fat soluble not water soluble! Fats can never be dissolved by pouring more water on to it.
• Here comes the jaw-dropping fact! People who drink excessive water are actually the most dehydrated! They suffer from a life threatening condition called “Hyponatremia”, as drinking too much water flushes out all the electrolytes and the body cells are going to swell resulting in a dangerous imbalance.
• So folks..drink sufficient water, make sure to drink only when you feel thirsty. No need to go an extra mile, coz in any way your body flushes out the extra water. Include vegetables and fruits in your diet that will make up for the 70% of water in your body and is the proper way to stay hydrated.
